summer externship?

I am a first year student and have heard of people doing summer externships where they gain experience as well as get paid. I have browsed the web but cant seem to find any information. Does anyone know where to look?

I plan on doing one this summer. You need to go through the AHEC in your area. Our school is closely affiliated with ours so they actually came to us with the oppurtunity. Your schools student affairs office should know how you can reach them.
