It's almost time for winter break, but I'm already thinking of my plans over the summer. I have set aside 2 options of myself.

1. Stay in my hometown, pick up 1-2 jobs, volunteer here and there.
2. Go abroad and volunteer (south america, india, etc.)

Both options seem fine to me, but which is the better one considering I want to apply for medical school.

These are the only options I can think of; I have 4 months all to myself, and I really want to be productive, what other options are available to me?

If you have the funds, I would vote for going abroad. Make sure you go with a reputable program. Don't fall for the ones that say they'll let you give vaccinations/do minor procedures because pre-meds shouldn't be allowed to do medical procedures that they are not licensed to do just because they're in a foreign country.

My study abroad experience essentially changed my perspective on life and I am now heavily considering an MD/MPH dual degree. 👍

Do you know of any legit volunteering abroad organizations?
