Hello all,

I think I've finally decided to go to Downstate and am absolutely thrilled. Now I need to worry about housing. 🙂 Does anyone know if on-campus housing is still available after the CHRP housing lottery in June? I've submitted my on-campus app, but haven't heard anything yet; I'm hoping for a studio with another person. If not, does anyone have any suggestions for decent, safe housing off campus? I'm also looking for a roomate (female preferably), so if you are also, please PM me.

Thanks so much for everyone's help.

Congrats on choosing Downstate!

I am currently a member of the class of '08. To be honest, I never lived on campus. I honestly think it is a rip-off. Most people enjoy living in the dorms for the first year because it makes it easier to meet people in your class but the living situation is not always the best. I know many people who live in the studio apartments and think they are too small to be shared. But, are perfect for one person.

I live in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn and I find it to be the best area to live. It is close enough to get to school and also close to the city, if you are into going there. Your best bet for finding a roommate is to contact John Falls in the admissions office and tell him you are looking for a roommate in your class. Often there are other students who are in the same position that are seeking roommates within their class. You can also look for a studio in Park Slope on craigslist or something like that. The slope has alot to offer ever more so than the East Flatbush area of Bklyn. And if you have a car it is even better living in Park Slope.

Good luck and PM me if you have any other questions or concerns.
