hi guys i interviewed early feb and recently got my acceptance package... congrats to the future downstate class of 2009... see you guys in august! 😀

anyone else who interviewed in feb hear yet? mid to late feb? i thought i remembered seeing on last year's thread that they split the hold list into regular and high priority around mid april. so, maybe those of us who haven't heard yet will get some sort of news soon?? here's to hoping.

Medstylee: I interviewed mid-Feb. and haven't heard anything yet. I'm getting really annoyed, but I know from experience that calling won't do any good -- although I prob. will call if I don't hear in a couple of weeks. It's good news that someone who interviewed in early Feb. (drbean) just got in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

i recall seeing that people who interviewed a while ago received some sort of postcard or letter informing that their applications had gone to the admissions committee and to just wait for admissions instead of calling. have any of you later interviewees received anything like that? just curious.

I interviewed Valentine's Day and just got an email saying I've been accepted!!! Awesome belated Valentines Day present! 😍 They'll be sending an acceptance package soon the email said.

Hopefully, you guys will here back soon too!!

Ouch, did I miss something here?? 😕 It's been almost 10 weeks since my interview, and I haven't heard a single word 😱 😱 What's going on??

I figure that if it were a rejection, I would have received it sooner. However, if it were an acceptance, then I should have heard something before the people who interviewed in mid- to late February. Oh well...

As I truly believe, God's timing is perfect in everything. I'm going to use this time to be more faithful, prayerful, and patient..

Nevertheless, congrats to those who've recently received acceptances 🙂

I know one of your fellow interviewees from the same day and just heard from him that he's also been accepted... must have been a lucky day. to everyone who's still waiting: hang in there! its a stressful process; i'm awaiting a response from schools i interviewed at in dec so i know how you feel. im confident you'll all be hearing the good news soon and hopefully we'll all be seeing each other in august. 🙂

I'm still awaiting word from Downstate; interviewed in mid Feb. WTF?! I understand these things can take time, but puleeze! We're approaching May 15th rather quickly.

I'm thinking that at this point it's the WL for moi. sorry for the negativity, but I haven't heard of any acceptances going out for a bit, and given the late date.

dammit, i got an interview invite for valentine's day, but re-scheduled my interview to march. haven't heard yet. dammit, if i went to the interview earlier, i would've heard back by now! that's what i get for wanting to spend v-day in good fashion.

I interviewed in January (twelve weeks ago), and I still have not heard anything...only God knows when Downstate will get back to me..I just pray that I will remain patient until then 🙂

It basically encourages students to do clinical research at Downstate and talks about various opportunities available via MD/PhD, summer fellowships, etc.

It seems Downstate is starting to play up their strength in research??

I can't see who else received this letter in the headers.. but I wonder why I got it since I didn't get in yet.. maybe I'll have some good news wiating for me at home 🙂

Bonez: Big congrats to you! Do you think you're going to go to Downstate?

I actually called teh office towards the beginning of the week. Turns out that Ms. Levine, who is clearly most intimate with the proceedings of the adcom, is out on vacation until early May. Wah!! I haven't received any encouraging emails or such, so I'm thinking I'm WL. I would just like to get the dang letter already!

on another note, it sounds like a couple of people have received decision notifications in the past few days, so hopefully i'll hear. to be honest, i had no idea that they rejected post-interview, so now i'm starting to get very nervous.

Has anyone done the AHA Health Professionals course requirement for Downstate yet? If so, which training course are we meant to be taking? Is it the ACLS?

well, i've heard from downstate finally and, unfortunately, i too was rejected post-interview. i can't say i'm surprised as my interview went absolutely terribly. in any case, it's the pits to be rejected at any school after interviewing, but i'm not very upset about downstate. i really liked the students and i think the curriculum and experiences are great, but i just cannot see myself living there. i'm a native new yorker but i've never really liked ny nor do i really have any desire to move back. so, perhaps it ended up being a good thing, no? anyway, i wish you the best of luck guys. downstate is truly a great medical center, but, as they say, it really isn't for everyone.

The silly letter that they sent me said that the committee would be re-evaluating my application in the spring, and i havent heard anything from them yet. anyone have any clue when they tend to let people know? i am assuming that i am only vying for a position on the waitlist. is this true? if anyone would shed some light on this matter for me, i would be bery grateful.

Hey guys - thanks for the well wishes. Sounds like the SDN Downstate-hopefuls community is a supportive one! For those of you still waiting, I hope that you get good news. Even if you have to wait longer than you'd like, I think things will work out in the end! As for me, keep your fingers crossed that Georgetown comes through!

I can't really shed any light, except to say that I too am in that post-interview hold category and also have heard nothing. I haven't called to ask when we might hear either because my past experiences calling their admissions office has been less than warm and fuzzy (and also because I really don't think I care any longer)

To all those still interested, got an email from Dr. Terracina (adcom). she said my application was going to be reviewed again in June and that I would know definitely their answer by the end of June. Nothing like stringing me along huh? can any good come of this? does anyone know?

Yea, I got the same email, I think. Several people on here got same/similar email. I assume you're a "Hold" like I am. I don't know what to make of it, except that at least we weren't outright rejected already. Does anyone know if they have a waitlist at all yet? I'm clinging to the hope that some of us may be accepted from the Hold list. Good luck and hang in there!!
