i read that the interviewers at that school
are required to ask about where else you interviewed at

i was wondering what the point of this question is

i went on my interview
and they asked me this same question

does this mean that they will think less of you if you are interviewing at the lower tier schools or don't have that many yet?

I wondered about this also, but then I decided that they only ask this in order to see how competetive it will be to get you. In other words if you have interviewed at a lot of schools, and say so, you may not necessarily have a strong interest in stonybrook. If you only mention interviewing at a few schools then you seem more interested in stonybrook. So, basically I feel that it is asked not necessarily because they care where else you went but because they are interested to see what you will say in response and how you will frame your interest in Stonybrook.

Arikansas, how did the festivities go at Stony?

The interview went well. I didn't get any ethical questions, which was interesting because I heard they were big on those. It was just a pretty laid back discussion about everything, including really random things like what kind of music my parents like.

I liked the school a lot. Everyone there seemed really psyched to be there, which was cool. Lots of students kept randomly coming into the admissions office so they could talk to us. They also all seemed like they had lives outside of academics. I stayed over with a student and she showed me the town which was nice.

They don't give you a finite amount of time within which you will hear, but hopefully it will be soon, and hopefully it will be positive.

how have the rest of your interviews been going btw?
