Supplementary Materials?

Has anyone sent in supplementary materials to schools pre or post-interview? Not just an update letter, but like a copy of a published paper or artwork, etc. I was just wondering whether you had any success with that. Are there certain schools that specifically say not to send stuff in? I am wondering whether it's a waste of time or a good investment at this point.
