I work in a low volume retail pharmacy. I don't have a tech 75% of the time, so I end up doing a lot of housekeeping tasks. I only have one part-time pharmacist who is barely finishing his scripts on a daily basis.

He is so far behind every day, I don't even dare to ask him to do anything that is not script filling related. The "anything else" are just very basic stuff other than checking scripts, such as staying organize, filling supplies (paper, labels, vials), filing scripts, etc. It would be nice if he can take the initiative, or open his eyes and see what needs done.

After over a year I finally had it that other day. I got sick of unfolding and refolding his scripts (the full size paper kind) before I could file them way. All I want are scripts to be uniform and neat, so when we get audited they are much easier to find. Folding scripts whichever way he feels like is driving me nuts, and believe me he doesn't just fold them in half. It's more like thirds, fifths, or whatever.

I left him a note showing him how I fold my all my full size scripts, where back sticker goes, etc. I didn't do it to insult him, but I need things to be neat. The matter of fact is we don't have time to mess with scripts longer than we have to because we don't have a tech. Yes, we have PDX, only pharmacists handle back sticker/fold scripts, so there is no one else to blame.

Okay, this is getting way too depressing....trying to do everything in ways to save a few minutes, but I really don't think it's too much to ask.

Do you have a coworker who drives you nuts? Please do share :corny:

You sound like someone I used to work with in retail. Guy used to bitch at me every time I would rip the electronic scripts to normal size using the edge of a table instead of using scissors.

Sounds like he needs some fluvoaxamine.

target and vons(aka safeway) are the only two chains that I know that still uses PDX from the 1980s

Do not need to leave him a note, give it to him in his face.

seriously, this is the worst part of your job...how someone folds a script?

I've always thought a significant number of pharmacists have OCD.

Since I do all the filing, I don't like rphs folding scripts showing 4 sheets pointed upwards instead of just 1 sheet and general lack of neatness when folding scripts

No, it's absolutely not the worst part of my job. I could complain about a whole lot of other things. How many techs I get, how many scripts I do, how many hours I work per day, etc are all variables, and I'm okay with it. I believe we all have established that I have script filing ocd  and I'm tired of filing scripts. I need to hire a personal file clerk 🤣

Just straight up tell him how your prefer things to be done. Don't write a note. Show him in person.

Thanks for taking my post seriously. I should 👍 and if he doesn't want to do it my way, it's fine. At least he knows my expectations :luck:

WHHHYYYY~ why would anyone be using PDX in 2012......2013 +pissed+

i work at an independent pharmacy....i totally understand how you feel...i have technicians that do the same ****....i have to do all the filing...like i had this one technician put the god damn sticker on front of the script covering up the date...im like wtf is wrong with you....i have this other pharmacist that puts the sticker on the back of the prescription hard copy diagonally...after you work with people like these...it drives me up the wall...it messes up morale in the work place...when audit time comes you got scripts that are upside down with the stickers covering up important info like the date or the diagnosis code....you tell them nice the first nice time..after repeating yourself so many times...it gets old....its not being anal...its other people being lazy not doing it your way which they dont understand unless they have to pull the scripts or file them...

My co-partner in crime drives me absolutely crackers. I'm not going to go into any detail because I do not wish to be identified on here. I just try to find ways to work with it every day because:
a) this person has worked here forever and isn't going anywhere soon and
b) for all I know, I'm driving someone else nuts with the stuff I do!

I agree with what another poster suggested, if something really is bothering you just try to talk to him and be upfront about how you need things to get done.

Don't be sad, its almost christmas and you're a pharmacy unicorn for chrissakes!

True, and being a unicorn...you usually end up not having to work around the holidays!

Hey man, I'm with you. I am a PIC at a low volume store and have floaters that come in on Saturdays. I need things run specifically even up until the way the script is folded so I completely understand.

Since we're complaining about small stuff, I can't get my partner to agree to a new schedule in 2013.

I worked around his school schedule in 2012 (he's part-time, was taking classes) by working every Monday/Thursday, and now I can't get the weekends off the way I want it (I want Sat/Sun/Mon off, he wants Fri/Sat/Sun).

I'm about to just tell him to deal with it, I'm the manager, etc. but I don't want to come across as a jerk. My gf has Sat/Sun/Mon off on weekends and I want to mirror that. Help?

Make it every other week?

Dont have to work holidays...HAHAhaha...well at least I had christmas off at the least

agreed... stop witching, and have a face to face conversation.

Thanks y'all 👍 I'm making notes and planning for our face to face meeting. It's time to set some basic standards. I remember how it was like at cvs, everyone wanted me to be their floater because I didn't make a mess and was fun to work with, unlike other pharmacists who refuse to enter a script when techs are busy :meanie:

God I hate working with pharmacists like that. 👎

I am driven crazy by my RXM now . I have never seen so much micromanagement before. I was reprimanded for not filling the draws with vials when I closed. Though i make sure i always clean and set up for tomorrow especially when i know i am not opening. I am accused of not doing enough. I have to ask her what she meant by that. I put warehouse/truck away by myself most of the time. I always do smart count when i open. We have one tech that comes from 10 to 7 . Our store opens from 9 to 9.
I think that i am doing more than enough especially everything that a tech does. I was reprimanded for not doing WCB and touch tone refill authorizations. Honestly, we have been very busy and i have not gotten a chance to do wcb. But since we have one full time i am wondering why i am reprimanded for not doing these tasks while the tech has never been reprimanded. While i have my pharmacy duties to do, i make sure i do all of tech stuff such as smart count, 7 days call list, deleted, posting cardinal. I don't count drive thru, and register because i do these more than the tech.
For those of you who work at walgreens as a staff, what do your daily duties look like?

Jesus christ I'm glad I have a full time position in a hospital, no matter how bad my hospital gets, it'll always be better than retail.

it is ridiculous, and it stresses me a bit. I am no superman. She expects all that from me while i have do all my pharmacy duties.
