Videns loupes pros and cons?

frame + telescopes only weight about 1 ounce (30 grams)

IMO, way better designs than Os, DFV and Surgitel

Quick-Lock system allow the telescopes to be switched within seconds i.e. 2.5X to 3.5X etc

cons: it sticks way out from the pics

to me it seems like a dream comes true...super light weight, nice designs etc

Could anyone give me some advices?

Never heard of videns.

It seems there are a few new players coming. I would suggest you to at least be able to have them in your hand before you buy. You want to feel them and see if the optics are good.

Normally most of the people in my school get Orascoptics/DFV/Q-optic/Heine but this year the company selling orascoptic loupes started selling this other brand : http://www.exam-vision.com/

Teachers were astonished by the quality and they all felt solid and the optics are very good (Leica supplier). I was hesitant to buy them because they're new in north america. If I didn't have the chance to hold them in my hands and try them first, I wouldn't have get them. I'm very happy of what I bought (2.8x blue cosmo).

How's the customer support? Have you tried reaching them?

Good luck 🙂

Those loupes look awesome! I wonder if they will sell to those in the states?

dear Masseter

I want to get my first pair of loupe

I'm considering these 3 companies Sandy Grendel / exam-vision/ Univet
and puzzled of different types and prices
If you are going to recommend me one of them regarding optical properties which you could select?

All they are respected company, and all they seem to have good customer service but due to lack of dealer in my country I cant give a try, so I have to buy regarding Reputation!!

I have tried Sandy Grendels and Exam-visions so I cannot vouch for Univet (I don't know them).

Both Sandy Grendels and Exam-visions are really good. You will not be disapointed. I don't know who makes Sandy Grendel's optics but I know that Exam-vision's optics are from a Leica lens supplier. So you might want to consider this.

However, It would be best if you could try the loupes first to get a feel of the quality, but I know it's all subjet to local availability.

I hope you find something to your liking.

All the best.

yes my dear, you are right.

Sandygrendel is more customized but very expensive about 3200 USD now a days
and their web not giving enough information about lenses (they are talking too much about weight of their loupe)

exam vision their web site more comprehensive and I like the no of magnification 2.8x HD prisma but I do not find much people use their loupes.

for Univet I do not have enough info but I heard that they are Zeiss optics, still want to confirm from them.see their web site just to take idea Univet

Let me ask you some thing, From where you get the light? did you find mount clip for Exam vision easily?

Thanks Masseter for reply

Hello
i'm an italian student, i bought an Univet loupes last year and i'm very satisfied of it. I met the guys of the company in IDS exhibition in germany, and in that occasion they explained me that their loupes are 100% made in italy, designed and assembled in their facilities. even the optics are 100% italian, very good quality materials and service. if you need more info about my univet loupes, i would be glad to help you!

thanks
marco

You say the optics are Italian made? Can you find out for us if they use the same optics as Zeiss loupes?

yes my dear I need your help

1)The cost is a factor for me, do you know any cost of any of their loupes? any discount to the students?

2)Have you ever compare their optics with any other company?

3)which Magnification you have got? ( I feel 3.0x and 3.5 prism is quiet larger than what I expect) Do you feel the same ?!!

sorry for prolongation

thank you alot

Hi
in IDS exhibition i had the chance to try the loupes of all the manufactures, Zeiss included, but i really liked their style and design, so i bought their loupes. What can i say, first of all consider that Zeiss does not manufacture TTL, but only flip-up. I wanted only customized loupes, so i excluded Zeiss. Regarding the student prices,i asked the same thing to them 😀 they told me that depends clearly of their distributor, but they are completely open in this way, they granted me a good price, cheaper than the others. Anyway, i bought a TTL 2,5X which is enough for me. but i tried also the 2,0X and the prismatic. I got here their catalogue, for galileians they have 2,0X 2,5X and 3,0X ; for prismatics 3,0X 3,5X 4,5X.

i think you can get their mail contact for further info, check their website, univet.it

Hands down Univet offers the best optics and extremely light weight frames, lately I have also figured that most of the dental schools are recommending Univet loupes.

I use univet too because they did me a good price, they are decent quality loupes and nice and light. I use a feather lite from ultra light optics on them (http://www.ultralightoptics.co.uk), because their light is lighter and brighter than the standard univet one
