Hello all, longtime lurker here who is in a bit of a dilemma. I am in my second year of dental school and was recently diagnosed with arthritis in my dominant thumb. It is mild and has not caused major problems in the preclinical courses and I am fully confident I could make it through med school, but it could be a major problem down the road in dentistry. I love the medical aspects of dentistry and am contemplating a switch to medicine and then doing a less procedure driven specialty. My question is if it would be better to finish out dental school and apply or apply now. Also I would like to know whether mentioning my condition would help my application or hurt it. A few more things about me, my undergrad gpa was around a 3.4 and my dental school gpa is around a 3.1. Thanks for your help.
