I am currently a PGY-2 general surgery resident who will be making the leap to the land of fewer work hours and nicer people next July. That being said, I haven't read about CHF or seen a well child since early fourth year of medical school. What is a good text I can read now to prep for FP? Also, what are the standard FP texts used, and any comments on them? Thanks in advance!

We didn't use texts in residency. We learned in morning report and clinic how to take care of the standard medicine type patients. You should be fine, in our residency we had the first month full of lectures to get folks up to speed. Your attendings will help. You probably know more than you think. You will be ok and don't stress.

If your program will pay for an AAFP membership, the online AFP journal articles are often very practical and a good starting point.

AFP is a good place if you have a targeted issue you want to learn about. If you need to revisit general medicine text book wise, Rakel's is standard, but you can also do Current Diagnosis and Treatment.

Awesome! Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll definitely check out the AAFP website, and some of those texts too.
