Hey guys,

Question about synctium in muslces. I know it can be seen in cardiac muscle due to the intercalated disks, but is a synctium seen in any other types of muscle besides cardiac? Thanks for the ayudar

as far as i know its only in the cardiac muscles... its a network of cardiac muscles.

Here:
By definition
Syncytium: is a mass of cytoplasm containing several nuclei..

BUT:

Atrial Syncytium: is a network of cardiac muscle cells connected by gap junctions called intercalated discs that lends to the coordinated contraction of the atria

the princeton review hyperlearning mcat biology book says.....multi-nucleate syncytia

but just remember skeletal muscle are not connected by gap junctions, while smooth and cardiac are.
