Hey guy?s

May be a few of you seen my previous post with my stats. Well, here they are again.

Bio 22, Ochem 27, Chem 25, RC 18, QR 14 and PAT 19.

Total Sci 24, AA 21

My question is: since my QR is so low, should I retake the DAT in Jan. A few schools that I talked to said that they prefer all scores to be 15 and above. UOP said basically that it is my choose.

I would take it over, however, my concern is that I had all summer to prepare for the test. From now until Jan, I will be very busy with classes and filing out secondaries. I wouldn?t have the proper amount of time to prepare, and I mostly do better on QR but worst on the more important science section.

I am thinking, if I am not accepted this year, I will summit application early, and study again all summer with an emphasis in QR. I know that we can take the test three time, but I also know they dont care about the third test, so basically this is my last chance to improve. Is my thinking wrong?

I wouldn't take it again, your other scores are marvelous. I would call the schools and tell them your dillema. I'm sure they will invite you to an interview, so just explain the one low score.

i'm in the exact same boat as you , but i edged you out in the math with an impressive 15

i'm thinking that schools are going to be very impressed with your science score and be very interested in you regardless of the math.

good luck

like i said, same boat, i am not going to retake it.

I spoke with my knowledgeable friend last night, and he said to not take the DAT again until late march. He said, I will get interviews, and there may be some schools that have a problem with the 14. If they have a problem, but they want to admit me, they may give a conditional admittance. The condition being that I receive an min. of 16 0r 15 on all section then all I would have to do is receive the min. score in march to get in.

No schools are going to have a problem with your scores. The math section simply is NOT important to a dental school curriculum, and is not indicative of anything (other than forgetting elementary school algebra). A science score of 24 is outstanding.

I think you'd be wasting your time by retaking the exam. A COMPLETE waste of time.

I just read all the posts on the thread and thought I'd offer the following: I HIGHLY doubt schools are going to offer you a "conditional" acceptance based on a single low math score.

If a school did this, then I'd drop that school just out of their sheer ignorance. A decent school would recognize that the math score means nothing, especially when juxtaposed with your other scores.

I don't think you should re-take it either. You have high score and by traking it again you just put them at risk.

Besides I think most school don't accept DAT scores past December. (for 2004 cycle).

Thank guys,

My main concern is screwing up my second chance (realistically last chance) to correct that one portion. I really think I could have done better on my math section. I just let my self lose track of the time, and before I realized it, I only had 15 min to do like 25 questions.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I will see how this all works out in the following months.
