Hey everybody,
In the words of gob from arrested development "ive made a huge mistake." I withdrew from a school this week after getting an acceptance at another school off the waitlist. After much soul searching, I realized that my original school choice was where I want to go. I realize that it is extremely unprofessional and quite selfish to call up the original school and beg (literally beg) to be taken back. Has anyone (LizzyM?) heard of anyone successfully rescinding a withdrawal? I also don't mean to imply that I'm ungrateful for my opportunities (although I understand that that is exactly what I'm doing)
Thanks for your help.
Inb4 "you're not going to be a good doctor cuz you can't make good decisions"

What the hell? I would suggest calling and begging. What other option do you have?

I hate to be the bad news giver, but at this point there is a 99.9999% chance your spot has already been given away.

You made it into med school, go to where u have an acceptance, and move on with your life.

I figured as much. Thanks for your help!

They're going to tell you no, but what do you have to lose at this point?

At my school, after we receive withdraw notification, it is usually immediate we make a decision who to offer the spot to and notify shortly after.

There seems to be a consensus that it won't work. I agree. However, my boyfriend just went through a very similar matriculation faux-pas with law school. He called up, spoke to the dean, was maybe a little charming, and he got back in with an extra $5,000 added to his $20,000/year scholarship. Just saying, it doesn't hurt to ask. But don't beg, persay. Account for your thought process and how you've come to your current decision.

I've been trying to convince myself to leave you alone. I feel like this is the internet equivalent of trying to corner you at a cocktail party. But. . .

Temple is my dream school. Even just anecdotally, do you have any suggestions for catching your committee's eye in real life?

I've heard of someone taking back a withdrawal but it was before May 15. If the school has had a hard time getting someone to take your place (it happens), then they might welcome you back. What have you got to lose?

There's nothing to lose by calling to ask for the spot back, but I would ask for the Director of Admissions and have a well rehearsed reason in mind. Perhaps the person that they offered the spot to declined and it's still available. There's always hope. They wanted you before.
Good luck.
