Taking DAT: How long does it take Prometrics to send your DAT scores to AADSAS?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You get the scores immediately after you take the test since it is all on the computer. The scores get sent immediately to aadsas, but then aadsas takes 4-6 weeks to receive it and process it, and then 1-2 weeks to send it out to the dental schools. I would recommend taking the DAT in June or July.

I sent my application on June 4 to aadsas, then took the dat july 15, and recieved my first interview invitation in August.

Also, I read a post on here from someone saying when you initially sign up to take the DAT, you can select your test scores to be sent to as many schools as you want to without any additional charge, can anyone verify this information? The DAT examinee guide says this, "Schools selected at the time of application are included in the DAT fee regardless of the number of schools selected. You can also request that a score report be sent to your predental advisor at no charge at the time of application. The fee for dental schools or other recipients not selected at the time of application is $25 per report."

I could just check off every single school and not worry about having to pay extra money to get my scores sent out after having taken the DAT. Sounds too good to be true, so I wanted to double check. Has anyone else done this before, I haven't come across any posts regarding this "tip"? Wouldn't it be in your best interest to send your scores off to all the schools and then worry about which ones you really want to spend money applying to later? I'm still waiting for the 2011 ADEA guide to come out before I narrow down my choices of what schools to apply to.

I dunno If they changed the rules now, but back in 2009, you are allowed to select the first 5 schools for free.... every school after that is $25 additional.

Here is my advice, DO SELECT THOSE 5 SCHOOLS when you sign up for the DAT. One huge mistake I made was I didn't select my schools when I took the DAT in October, I used to think those 5 free-ones are always free whenever I decide to select them... WRONG, its only the case when your first signing up for the DAT.

This will be my first time taking the DAT, and I want to apply for this year's cycle and get my application sent out as soon as possible once AADSAS opens up on June 1st, so what day should I take my DAT? I've read several posts that say your scores get sent to AADSAS immediately, while other posts say it takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks for your scores to post to AADSAS. If it gets posted right away, I could wait until the semester is over to take the DAT, but if it takes a longer time, I was thinking about taking it around the first of May.

I was just logging on to ask the same question!! I'm also a little confused of when I should take the DAT and how the whole application process works. If you want to submit your application asap( ex. June) and don't want to cause any delay in your application, when should one take the DAT? 😕

I need to know this so I can plan out what I should do for the next year! thanks a bunch!!! 👍

Are you kidding me? 4-6 weeks then 1-2 to send it out? So then if you take in june 15th they'll send it to schools at a min by late july max early aug? That is terrible. Would this be in the first mailing group? How late can you take the DAT and be "early" enough to be in the first mailing group.

I selected all the schools, and the fee was $320. It doesn't seem like they charged me anything extra for selecting all the schools. Did anyone pay a different price for selecting less than 5 schools? In the grand scheme of things, $100 here or there for the application process is pennies.

It changed this past year. You only need to have one school selected when you register for the DAT. The test scores get uploaded from Prometrics to your AADSAS application, and all the schools you pay to apply to in AADSAS will get your scores. The ADA still keeps that $25 per school nonsense on there web site to try to rake in some extra cash, but the ADEA (AADSAS) changed things in July 2010 to make it easier. Which is why the ADA upped the DAT price from $225 to $320.

And when I called the ADEA about processing time after taking the exam, I was told 3 weeks. It actually took 13 days for me last July.

I took my DAT June 7th and it was received by aadsas July 8th. I do not know exactly when the schools received my scores but I would say a couple weeks after that. I did not send out my application till july 9th, and my schools had everything the end of July, and I started hearing back about interviews the beginning of August.
