i have been studying for DAT on june 1st

just wondering, what IF i do not get a decent score

i know i have to wait another 3 months in order to take it again

then take one again early september and apply then?

isnt it going to be TOO late?

I'm in the same spot as you. I'm banking on the "failure is not an option" mentality. Curious what others think.

I took my DAT september 23rd and scored a 19AA and 19TS and recieved 7 interviews with 4 acceptances

Don't go with the 'failure is not an option' mentality. Just do your best! Don't worry about the score when you're taking the DAT or when you're studying. Just relax and do your best! Study hard, and you'll get the results you want 🙂
Whenever I tried to take a practice test with the 'failure is not an option' mentality, I didn't do well. When I would just relax and take the pressure off, I would do well. So when the real exam came, I just took off the pressure like I had been practicing, and I did alright.
But if the 'failure is not an option' mentality works for you and gets you the scores on your practice exams- go for it! I'm just stating my experience.
Figure out what works for you and go for it! Don't worry about how you'll have to retake it. Just know that you can deal with it later. Worry about now. If you worry about later, you won't study for now.
Just keep studying!
Good luck!

No i had my application complete by July 2nd!!! make sure you submit your entire application if your taking your test later I cannot stress this enough!!! You can do your application before you have your test scores in!

Think positively, and hope you do well! Don't worry about this until you need to re-take it. But on the off chance that you do, take it in 3 months, send in your applications when apps open...than send in a letter to admissions that you will be re-taking the DAT ...add the date you will re-take it.

I'm doing the same thing as you! Don't worry, things will be ok. I'm freaking out myself about the DAT, but I figure most of my practicing will pay off and if I have to retake it in September then so be it. It will not be too late to do that when you have an Oct. 1 deadline. All you do is make sure you send in your AADSAS application asap, and worry about sending your new DAT score in to each dental school immediately after taking it...be sure to call each school and let them know to look for a new score. Good luck! we can do it!😉

Just remember guys, you only get to take it three times. Make every one count! And you had better show improvement on the retake or else. This will undo anything you did well on during your first attempt and will discredit your good grades. Then you've only got one more shot and you had better knock it out of the park to make up for your poor performance on the previous attempts. You have to be fully prepared for the DAT the first time. It's good to have a back up in mind, but don't be so dependent on your plan that short change yourself on the first attempt.

Just go for it like you're only taking it once!

How do you do this? Master your study materials! If you master your materials you will do well. I didn't even study for bio and got a 19 in that section. I did chads plus some destroyer and got a 25 and 22 in gen chem and O chem respectively.

I suggest studying to get the highest score but the test is not that bad. If you know your stuff from the study materials you will do well. You'll see once you're taking it and everything is just like you learned it 😉.
