So far I have taken a bunch of non science and math classes at community collges in the summer and winter so I would have fewer hours to take at my main 4yr college(university of houston). But now next semester I am thinking about taking my calculus class and statistics class at CC instead of my 4 yr but was wondering if this would look bad to the Pharmacy schools. UH recommends taking upper level math and science classes at a 4 yr.

Another question is is finishing one schools pre pharmacy requirements all that is needed to apply to all the schools in Texas or would I need to finish each schools pre requisites which have a few more classes when applying to them.

Thanks for the answer but can anyone answer the second question now please.

For the second one, you need to call the school. I've heard that at some schools, they give you so long after being accepted to complete the rest of the pre-reqs.

Take calc I and statistics at UH. You know the adcom prefers it. Plus, most students you will be competing against would have taken it at a 4 yr. school. Taking it at UH will have the added benefit of preparing you for the pcat well. Keep good notes and don't throw them away at the end of the semester. For calc I, try to register for Dr. Morgan's class (best math teacher ever!) and for statistics take Lapin (gives really easy tests and homework).

As for your next question, it's really not clear what you are trying to ask but I will give it a shot. Decide now which schools you want to apply to then make a tally of their pre-requisite requirements. Take the classes that are common to most schools first (like english, chem, etc). Take the pre-req that are least common last like macroecon and Lit for Tech or another course of visual performance arts for A&M Kingsville. Maybe you can take these classes during the summer prior to the start of pharmacy school. You don't have to complete all the pre-requisites before applying but you would need to finish all math and science classes by Spring semester of the year you are applying. Hope that helps!

Ethyl Methyl, I took calc originally last smester at UH but dropped it. I did horrible on the first test because of bad test anxiety but then did real good on the second but decided I didnt want to risk doing bad on the third test and final. So now I need to know calc before July when I take my pcat. Thats why I plan to take it at CC in June. I figure I might as well take stats with it cuz I want to utilize my summer well and start taking other classes the next year for a diff major in case I don't get into pharm school.

I am looking to probably apply to all the Pharm schools in Texas. For UH the physics requirement is that I just had to take physics in highschool but the other schools aren't like that. I also get credit at UH for my AP Bio test while other schools wont give credit. UT I know would have 10-15 hrs of credit that I don't need for UH. And I am not sure about other schools such as texas tech and A&M.

I don't know about UH, but I took Calc and Stats at a CC and didn't have a problem getting into UK. HOwever, schools may be different.

All pharmacy schools in Texas, except UH, require college physics. They don't care where you take it. I know a lot of my friends took it at HCC.

With regards to calc and stat, it seems you got a plan going already...

When are you planning to apply?

I think I am going to apply during fall 2008 not sure what month and I am really unsure about what schools. I might be stuck with only applying to UH and if I don't get in I might try transfering to UT and go for a bachelors in something else and then apply after my bachelrs or just do a master in whatever I am in.

When do you plan to apply ?

I'm already in the process of applying. I had an interview with UH last Friday. I applied early and I think that gave me an advantage.

Good luck. What other schools did you apply to?

I also applied to Texas Tech and A&M Kingsville. I have three days to decide whether I should apply to UIW...at this point I probably won't, idk. I did not apply to UT-Austin because of their foreign language requirement.

I wasn't aware UT had a foreign language requirement. When my time comes I will likely apply to the same schools as you. Were all those schools requirements about the same?

Texas Tech requires economics and a literature class. A&M kingsville requires genetics or cell biology, i think, and 4 hours of visual performance arts (so, you may have to take 2 art history classes or some other combination). If I were you, I'd take those classes last. All the rest are the same for the schools.

Im gona follow your advice but ap biology credit is probably going to screw me over with the other schools cuz I made a 3 and other schools require a 5. UH is the only one who take a 3 to my knowledge.
