Hey SDN,

I don't have ENG courses from college and I am a graduating senior this semester... I plan on applying to med school this coming cycle in June, but I'm worried about my lack of 1 year of ENGlish. I've taken other humanities courses (Sociology, anthropology, poetry), but none are specifically ENG courses...

So I think I'm left with very few, of which I have a few questions:
1) online ENG classes over the summer at my CC. Is this a bad idea? does where I take my ENG class weigh in admissions significantly? It does give me more freedom in pursuing other things however, and I can take 2 ENG classes online at once (I'm pretty sure it's doable at my CC done online).

2) Summer classes at higher institutions. Does it matter whether it is online, and where?

3) TIming of things: Can I indicate I am planning on taking ENG at a CC on the AMCAS app? In what ways will it count against me? ... Can I petition other college humanity classes and IB credits to replace ENG?
And is it more important to apply with ENG credits, or is the sacrifice worth it to apply as early as possible with indications to complete ENG later?

Thank you so much for your guys/gals time~ I hope this isn't as big a problem as I think it is... 🙁

Thank you!

My guess.... is that it is assumed that you will have all the requirements done by the time you matriculate. And, if you are already accepted, I don't see it likely to affect you negatively if you take the reqs at a CC...

Not exactly sure though. :luck:

Will it say on the transcript that the class was online?

hello, i think it would... and yea i emailed a few schools and some schools indicated it can't be done over the internet...

my question is do they want my english done before I matriculate or before I am admitted? will it affect my admissions to not have ENglish done by graduation/application? Because then I don't understand why else they would have a "future courses" section on the app if it weren't so....
