I'm a second year university student, i've taken all of my summer courses at a jr college along with some pre reqs like cal and chem 2. I've heard here and there that it's not a good idea to do that b/c optometry schools don't like it. I was considering taking physics there too and wanted some opinions on what people think. So far my gpa at my university is 3.65 and i work at an optometrist office in the summer and volunteer during the year and i'm involved in the pre-optometry organization. Let me know what you guys think of my situation!

i don't think you should worry too much. i've taken several of my pre-req courses over the summer at jc's and i've already gotten 3 interviews out of the 4 schools i've applied to.... i'd previously contacted professional schools, and they said for someone who is not majoring in the sciences, they don't expect you to pay university tuition for pre-reqs. i think as long as you keep your grades (allllll of them) up, and do well on the OATs, you'll be fine. sounds like you're getting great experience right now, so that's a good thing.
Good Luck!

no worries. I graduated with an engineering degree so pretty much 80% of my pre-reqs were from a jc and i've gotten 3 interviews of the 5 i've applied to so far. But yeah, make sure you do well. I find that the jc's to actually be a better learning environment as the professors are much more available to assist you and answer questions than at a larger college or university. Guess it just depends on where you go though.
