Hey everybody! I was just wondering if anybody took the DAT before completing all of their pre-requsites? If so, how do you think it was and are there any prep books you would recommend using to prepare. I am planning on taking it this summer before O Chem 2 and Bio 2. I will be taking those two classes in the fall. I also plan to buy the Kaplan book!

Thanks!

I strongly recommend taking Bio 2 before taking the DAT. Biology is essentially a bottomless and endless field of study. As for which book, the Kaplan blue book is popular, however I found that it lacked in the biology department. Try Schaums Outline of Biology.

I do agree that biology is an endless field of study, you can get all you need w/o taking Bio 2 though. Just get to as many practice tests as you can find and know each biology question inside and out. The more practice the better.

I actually took the DAT before Bio and Ochem 2. I did fine because I studied the material as hard as I could to make up for it. So if you have to you can do it w/o these courses. I used kaplan, topscore pro, ada outline and all of my old textbooks.

Best of luck :luck:

I agree that you don't really need bio II and orgo II. As long as you know the organic language, you can simply memorize what goes in and what comes out of the reactions from Orgo II. As for bio, the material isn't hard, so you just need to buckle down and read as much as possible. Orgo was my highest science score, so that was proof enough for me that I didn't need orgo II.
