I didn't realize that there was gonna be a lot of anatomy and phys stuff on the DAT as i'm going through the biology sections and nearly half on the DAT destroyer is about anatomy and phys stuff which I have almost no idea about and feel very unprepared for it for my exam on August 9th...

What are some tips on learning the most amount of anatomy and phys as I can in this short amount of time as 90% of the terms in those questions are unfamiliar to me at the moment...

Hey,
I am a sociology major and only took Bio I/II. I think that is all you need to take to do well. I outlined the Cliffs AP Bio notes (on index cards) and the KBB blue book. I also went through destroyer and added whatever i didn't know to index cards. Also google things you don't fully understand in destroyer and add them to your notes. I think that should be good enough. I got a 21 on bio, so I think looking at those three things is sufficient if you want to get in the 20s. They asked a lot of taxonomy questions though, so make sure you study that.

Use Youtube to your advantage and try finding images of all of the more complex physiology topics. The hormones section is probably the most memorization heavy which probably won't have any form of interactive study aid that will make it any easier. Just try and use mnemonics for all the memorization heavy topics and watch videos on the more "process" oriented topics (ie. immune system stuff).

Good luck!

I took 1 physiology class and found it very helpful in the sense that it saved me the time of having to teach myself everything. For plants and classification, I had to teach myself everything and THEN memorize it all, so that takes more time.

That being said, the best thing you can do for yourself for physio is create some of your own notes. For example for the digestive system, print out a color drawing and label the parts as well as which hormones are produced where and what they do. This makes it easier to memorize because the visual aid will help you think through it in case you space. I pretty much used visuals for all of the physio stuff.

Hi! I also hadn't taken an anatomy/physiology course before my DAT. Learn what is presented in Cliff's AP Bio and Barron's AP Bio and you will be in great shape! You shouldn't get anything that is super specific on your test. 🙂

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was actually reading GLimmer's breakdown and saw that she had to learn a&p from scratch as well. I also am a visual learner and the destroyer is killing me so i'm stopping that (On like week 5 of dental work's regime but i feel like i'm not studying as efficiently) so i'm prob gonna follow her breakdown and just use chad's videos for the most part now for the chemistry

If you know Chad and can apply what he teaches, you can easily get a 20+! 🙂

Hey Glimmer! Been meaning to ask you this for a while hehe...how many times did you read cliff ap? i know you said you didn't like it so much (me neither!). I ordered Barron's. How many times did you read Barron's? Thanks 🙂

I went through Barron's in it's entirety 2x. I then went back through and reviewed the chapters that were giving me the biggest headaches right before my test (2-3 days before).

I went through Cliff's just once. However, I also went back through the corresponding "headache" chapters in Cliff's during my final week, too! I thinking it helped seeing the same info presented in two slightly different ways.

🙂
