Who's doing it? I'm gonna go a few times...nothing obscene of course, but a little color definitely looks better.

Highly recommended. Ugly, pasty people don't get accepted to medical school.

What's the real difference here?
The one on the right is an MD!

On the converse side, any dark skinned people gonna lighten their skin for interviews?
Getting a tan for medical school interviews is stupid.
The doctors who interview you will be intelligent enough to know how prevalent skin cancer is, and they also know how bad tanning beds are for you. Wouldn't you want to come off as a health-conscious person if you're wanting to go into healthcare? Be smart. Do you think people get a "golden bronze" before interviewing for their dermatology residencies? I think not.
hold your horses lol let's not overreact. a little color doesnt automatically look fake and appalling. i'm gunning for a look that says 'yeah that guy probably goes outside now and then.'
plus it looks waaaay better! maybe my interviewer will be too sidetracked by his boner to think negatively about my tan
The fact is, you probably do "go outside now and then" -- thus, you necessarily look like a guy who "goes outside now and then."
If you look any more tan than that, then you look more tanned than someone who "goes outside now and then." Unless you are coming from somewhere that is obviously very sunny (e.g. Cali, Florida, Arizona, etc.), then it will be apparent that your tan is artificial, which is hardly the real issue anyway; you should be responsible enough not to tan if you want to go into healthcare, whether your tan came from the beach or the bake-n-flake machine.
You sure you want to go to med school guys? ^^^^these are your classmates.
I am as light as milk. That's how I was born, that's who they're going to see in the hallways, and that's how I will die. I wouldn't be caught dead with a tan.

hahaha. "you should be responsible enough to not tan if you want to go into healthcare" uuuuhhhhh
takes all kinds
You sure you want to go to med school guys? ^^^^ You'll meet plenty of people like this "bruh" here who can't make a responsible choice and assume a role-model position to save their lives.
You should be able to take care of yourself before taking care of others. Patients watch their doctors very closely; why have them question your integrity because you are vain enough to tan in light of the obvious serious consequences? It's like smoking; if you were puffing a cig right outside the front door of the hospital, how do you think that patient would think of you when you tried to counsel them about their own smoking? It's not like I'm saying to give up something that is even reasonable, or has any benefit at all.

pffffffffffffffffffff
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
live a little ned flanders
It must be awesome to be married to you. You're so responsible and you'll make a great family man. Your patients will respect you and they'll know that you care about them. Keep it up👍
Usually I don't take sides on things like this, but dude... loosen up. If the OP wants to tan for an interview to feel a little more confident, do you really care? You are saying because he wants to tan that he is being an unprofessional role model. Give me a break. 🙄Nice intellectual comeback. It really shows that you can articulate yourself about how a having a tan is, in any way, a responsible choice. Are you just going to tell your patients to "live a little ned flanders?" It seems that a healthcare professional would be interested in promoting health, unless you're just in it for the lifestyle. It does sound like you just want to make $300k and get crispy on the beach with a fifth and a cigar...

And 300k, a fifth, and a cigar sounds awesome. Don't deny it.

relax Chicken Little, you got a wild feather up ur butt or somethin? jee wiz
Washme, you're friggin weird, brah. If someone is an outdoors-man, such as myself (kayaking, surfing, climbing, swimming), you will become tan even with copious amounts of protection. You're crazy if you think that being tan is a sign of living an unhealthy lifestyle, and that all doctors should look like Snow White so that they can "set a good example" for their patients. LMAO You've never had a girlfriend/boyfriend have you. You have a bottle of SPF1000 sunscreen so far up your ass it's not even funny.
Chill, brah. 😉
this URM thing has gone too far... 😀Who's doing it? I'm gonna go a few times...nothing obscene of course, but a little color definitely looks better.
Being tan is one sign of an unhealthy lifestyle. It's great that you're getting a lot of exercise, but it definitely doesn't cancel out the damage you're doing to your skin (which could lead to a fatal disease). Are you likely to die of skin cancer? No. Would you be much better off -- aesthetically and medically -- if you applied sunscreen more liberally? Probably yes, depending on the petrochemicals in the sunscreen. Stick with SPF30 and apply it often, and stop making excuses. If you have a tan, it's only because you like it and didn't try hard enough to protect yourself.

Ok I think this whole argument premise is a little unnecessary but I do have to interject here on behalf of your future tan patients. I tan super easily and I apply loads of sunscreen...frequently I can be outside for 15 mins with sunscreen and come inside with a noticeable tan. I have also only been sunburnt once in my life. I have an olive skin tone which means even when I am not tan I look it. So please don't say that all people look better aesthetically if they aren't tan or are necessarily being unhealthy. I am very low risk for skin cancer even with my tan thank you very much and a little sunshine is good for you. It helps with depression and vitamin D 🙂
Well none of us are perfect. But I think for the sake of your patients, you should hide your disgusting tan with a liberal application of pancake batter. WashMe, you with me bro?!

That's not what I said. I said a person would be better off -- aesthetically and medically -- if they didn't tan. The long-term effects (wrinkles, sun spots, etc.) were what I was referencing with the word "aesthetic."
I got that I obviously just didn't respond clearly. Sorry I guess I did miss the distinction between being tan and going tanning however. I'm actually not disagreeing with you just piping in that maybe not everyone you meet that looks tan does go tanning.
Maybe you should step out of your parents basement every now n again, basement dweller. Do you even know what it feels like to have the sun hitting your skin. Feelsgoodman. 😉
