So, I'm going to order more MCAT books to start studying with in case I need to retake the MCAT if I don't get in this cycle...

for TBR, do the passages come with the content books? I'm on their website and they have Part 1 & 2 for each subject. Do these include the passages?

Also, where is this TBR science workbook I keep reading about? I don't see it on their website.

I see TBR released 7 CBTs now! They only had the 1st 3 out last year. I used those and they're pretty good. There were errors in them but nothing too bad. I don't know how accurate the scoring scale was, though....

Is there anywhere to buy used TBR books? The new ones are expensive, but I couldn't find any TBR whatsoever on amazon or half.com. Thanks.

Finally, how long is each content review book? About how many pages? I just want to set up a study schedule...

Yes, the BR content review books come with practice passages, many of them.

You're probably talking about the TPR science workbook. BR doesn't have one.

Used BR books occasionally pop up in the For Sale section on SDN.

I'm not sure how long the books are, but I'd plan out your schedule based on how many chapters you want to complete. The book I know the length to is the VR which is a whopping 724 pages. Keep in mind that the chapters do have passages to work on.

The main books people get from BR is Physics and Chemistry, and possibly OChem. (since EK101 VR is better, and EK Bio. with 1001 Q's is sufficient)

The books are divided into 2 books per subject (for some reason, I think it's to emulate college classes), and EACH book has 5 sections (10 sections per subject). The content ranged from 20-30 pages per section (with problems scattered out), followed by 13 passages for Gen. Chem, and 10 Passages for Physics PER section. (A whopping 130 passages for Gen. Chem, 100 passages for Physics!)

Each book is about 300 pages or a bit more, and it will definitely take you 2 days to finish a section (unless you spend ALL day on it).

I'm being a bum this semester and literally will be doing nothing but studying for the MCAT. Last year, I always put MCAT on the backburner because of the 23 hours (17 bio credits) I was taking. This time, I am not underestimating this test but instead giving it ALL of my time. And yes, I am bumming off my parents, which is the only reason I am able to not work for this semester. I do have research 2 days a week and clinic volunteering 1 day, but that's cake.

I plan on doing all content review starting now till mid-March, so 2 months. By that time, I'll actually know if I need to schedule for a MCAT date and buy more CBT practice exams (I'm putting off spending $1600 on CBTs until I KNOW for sure I have to retake the test). Hopefully, I'll just be accepted in March to make this all easier. 🙄

When/if I buy CBTs in March, is there a big difference between Kaplan and TBR CBTs? You can only get Kaplan's in the CBT format by paying $1500 while you can buy the TBR ones for $200 haha. What about TPR CBTs? I can't use the AAMC ones this time around. I used the hell out of them last year.

Do you think I need the TPR Science Workbook on top of the BR passages? I've read everywhere on here that everyone recommends it.

Also, for bio, I am getting EK bio. Do you think the 1001 questions or whatever is worth a buy, too, though? I am buying TBR for ochem. I've already taken this test twice haha so I know the BS section is mostly passage-based and tests your reading comprehension/critical thinking skills the most. Will the EK Bio 1001 really help? Is it passage-based testing your reading comprehension or does it just nail the bio content into your head? I only need a vague review for the bio, not in-depth one like the other subjects. I do need to improve my reading comprehension, though. To be honest, I probably don't need an in-depth review on anything, but since this is my 3rd and FINAL time on this POS test, I plan to go way overboard on the PS since that was my weakness before. Thanks.

I have done some EK Bio 1001, and lots of Kaplan BS practice.

EK Bio 1001 mainly helps to nail major concepts, but also has some passage-based application / reading comprehension.

Kaplan has far more passage-based bio passages like the real MCAT (based on what I took Aug 08) had. Their full length BS passages are really good, with several physio experiment passages (data/graphs) that required reading comprehension and application similar to the real thing.
