TBR Practice Tests useful?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've only taken TBR cbts 1 and 2, I liked them both. I don't think I can give a clear opinion on it. I've taken two practice tests for my retake, CBT 2 (12/10/12) and AAMC 5 (12/10/12).

Both PS and BS difficulty are about the same IMO.

darklabel,

I am taking TBR exams right now. I would say that so far the sciences (physical and biological) are rather difficult but the verbal is kind of strange but still good practice. I recommend getting them because TBR exams are more about learning what you got wrong, and understanding how to go about getting the answer specifically on those hard passages. I have not taken an AAMC yet (I'll do that after I take all 7 TBR exams). But since you used up all your AAMC, your best material after exhausting AAMC should be TBR. They are hard, but you will learn. Since you got a 29 and with the TBR I think you can get a 30 on your next retake.

Hey guys,

So I plan on retaking my 29 (one point from my minimum)

Anyways, I used up the AAMC tests and while I'll definitely redo them, I was wondering if TBR's set of tests available to buy is close enough to the real thing and worth it?

Thank you.

Darklabel, when are you thinking of retaking? I also took the January exam and am considering a retake in June.

Thanks for the info m8. I'm looking for hard. I used Examkrackers for the first test so I'm switching gears and using TBR for content review. (Except the Bio section since I hear it is gratuitous).

June or beginning July. While May sounds ideal, I want to give myself enough room to really study hard. Now that I've already taken it, I want to make sure I don't score anything less than 30. Also had a pretty even distribution (10/10/9) so I don't want to mess that up either.

What did you get your first test?

I received a 31 (13 PS, 8 VR, 10 BS), but am considering retaking because it was a couple of points below my AAMC average. If I do retake, it would probably also be in June since all the dates through May are filled in California. I will probably be using TBR Practice Tests as well, so we'll be in the same boat. Best of luck to you!

That darn Verbal screws you from an otherwise great score. Any ideas what you'll be using?

Yeah it's pretty annoying lol, doesn't help that I was averaging around a 10 in verbal on my AAMC's. I'll probably switch to TPR for Bio, I used EK the first time and didn't think it was sufficient for someone with a limited biology background like myself. I might also get the TBR Bio and just do some of the passages from it as well. For PS, I'll probably just do the remaining passages I have left in TBR since I'm just trying to maintain that section at this point. For verbal, I still have TPRH Verbal Workbook to finish, and I'll probably think about ordering TBR Verbal.

Do you have the TBR FLs or no? If so, were they helpful?

I haven't taken them yet, but I'll most likely do them since I already used up the AAMC's. Still have to do a little more research to see what everyone recommends, but so far it seems like a good call.
