Temple BCMS 2011-2012

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was a BCMS student last year. If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them here.

Does anyone know if you still have to enter the BCMS program in summer and take general chem even if you have already taken general chem elsewhere?

I would say -- pretty strict. My cGPA was 3.5+, but wasn't even granted an interview. However, that could have been for a number of other reasons.

If you have other factors that would make your application stand out, definitely go for it. You only lose out on $50, I think.

whoa a 3.5gpa and u couldn't get an interview for their SMP program? what the ****

May I ask what your GRE, SAT, or MCAT score/s was/were?

No - haven't head anything yet! Has anyone been able to contact the admissions office to get more information about interview dates?

I just called. It looks as if we should know whether we've been asked to interview or rejected out right by next week. Grace Hershman has been out of the office quite frequently lately, so I didn't speak to her directly, but the office.

I have some deadlines approaching so I do hope we know by next week.

Good luck to everyone.

Nope, I'll be sure to let you guys know if/when I hear anything one way or another.

aSagacious, I didn't mean to steer you wrong - but I only have confirmation that BCMS will be hearing this week. I unfortunately didn't get any answer regarding ACMS over the phone, so while it may just be this week you hear something back, I do not want to lead your astray waiting to hear something.

My apologies again.

Good to know, I guess I'll call and see where the ACMSers stand (whilst twiddling my thumbs in the meantime 🙂). I appreciate the thought anyway.

Well, that's that. I received the rejection e-mail this morning. No surprises there, and I couldn't have gone even if accepted, but every one of these letters stings just a little bit.

My condolences, bro. I understand where you're coming from - I still get shivers thinking about the three wait-lists from Dartmouth in undergrad.

I'm still awaiting my rejection.

Bumping this up hoping someone else heard something this week or knows anything...

Ugh, the wait is killing me and damn I'm bored. Just got banned from an American Idol forum for arguing with a bunch of people about Pia's untimely departure. That's how bad, sorry, and uneventful my life is right now.

Just called Temple - looks like they are sending out final notices early this week. I applied in February so I was surprised that I haven't heard yet. Has anyone else heard anything?

So apparently they're reviewing all the BCMS'ers earlier, then they're going to start evaluating ACMS? I applied for ACMS and I called a few weeks ago to confirm my complete status and they had told me they'd start interviewing for ACMS in June (although I think it's really May based on the threads from the last couple of years).

For those who care, I just got off the phone with admissions. They said they are going to finish the BCMS applicants before they begin looking at ACMS applicants.

Did you find out anything else from your phone call with Admissions?

Still have yet to hear anything (BCMS).........

Does anyone know how strict the SAT requirement is enforced? Are students who have high undergraduate gpa's ( i.e. Over 3.6) but SATs sub 1200 able to get in assuming they meet all other requirements? Thx.
