Live in Manayunk.... It's cheaper than center city and more fun then summit park.... Walking distance to many bars, restaurants, and stores....

unless you like the college dorm feel then move to summit park

Interesting. I hadn't heard of Manayunk. I've been looking for apartments and lofts on craigslist in center city. Where is the highest concentration of young people/ students? Near Temple main campus? I really want to be where the action is! Plus being close to Broad St line would be convenient.

I personally would not live near Temple Main campus. I would say it is not in the best of areas, but there are plenty of places in center city to live where it safe. In center city, old city and the art museum district have a lot of young professionals. Plus living in center city is alot of fun- lots of different restaurants, bars and cultural things to do. Plus you have the public transportation that can get you right to the school. Also, university city, near drexel and penn have alot of young people for obvious reason.

Manayunk is filled with young adults just a few years out of college. Def fun to be around, but a drive from center city, and I would say about 15- 20 mins from Temple. I don't know how long that would take with traffic.

Summit park, and that area is all professional school people, but yes it does feel like a college dorm. I know some people who have lived there for a year and then moved out, most into center city.

All are good choices, and I think you would find people in your class living in all three areas.

If you want action move to the city. Always something to do and you'll be around enough of your classmates

I've been living in Center City for about a year and a half now. I don't have a car and can therefor justify spending a little more on rent. In the long run I am saving money. From what I hear my friends' car insurance is very high.

As far as being where the action is, most people from my class live in the Manayunk area which is just north of the city. There are maybe 20-25 of us that live in center city, but we sort of hang out with each other because we are waaaaay cooler than those manayunk people.

If you do live in center city try to be by the broad street line because that will give you a straight shot right up to school, no transfering on trains or buses.

When talking to a realtor live try to live in...
-Rittenhouse Park area, (this could be pricey) west of broad street, south of market st, and north of south st.
-Gaybourhood, this is between broad st and 9 st, south of market, but north of south st
-Art museum area as long as you are not to far west of broad st. do to the long walk to the subway
-Some people live in Graudate hospital area which is west of broad st and south of south st. Personally this is too far away for me.
-You might be able to find something cheap in china town, but it is kind of sketchy there at night.
-Old city is a really cool area with tons of bars, but again this could be kind of far for you to commutte every day if taking public transportation. South of market st. between 6th and front st.
-University city is where Upenn is. Penn is a great place to study, but if you live out there you will have to transfer trains to get to school.

You can plan out your trip via public transportation at septa.com

I hope this helps.
Oh, and this is my personal prefrence but the buses suck so try not to rely to heavily on them.
