Temple's Full?

Um.... I just got a letter from Temple saying that they couldn't even process my applicatiton because their class is almost full...really? they even returned my check! Isn't their deadline March 1? My apps got to them mid December....Does anybody know how full BU is?

That's so wierd! The letter wasn't even addressed to me , it was to "Dental Applicant" so it seemed like they sent it out to alot of ppl, anybody else got this letter?

When I interviewed there, I saw about 5 boxes of AADSAS applications that were unopened on the floor of the secretary's office. The sheer quantity of applications makes it impossible to really consider everyone. I think this is the same for nearly all dental schools. 2 or 3 faculty members just are not enough to process twice the amount of applications that were recieved last year, so if you didn't apply early then you're probably SOL. Unless of course if you have a 4.0 and a 23 on your DAT. Those type seem to always make it regardless of their timing. Just my 2 cents.

i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if temple is full. everybody uses them as a backup (myself included), they conduct 'group interviews' by the bulk, and it's already february!

I got the same letter from temple.

I was in a similar position last year with Temple. Like many schools, they work on rolling admissions, so the earlier you get your application in, the more likely they will have a chance to review (before their admissions office becomes trapped under an avalanche of paperwork)

I waited very late last year to apply and they were full way before the deadline. This year, i sent my app to them in June and got in...

Not saying this is the best system...but that's just how they operate.

But aadsas is still on a first come, first serve basis. Therefore, their slow pace is irrelevant. They were slow for everyone.

agreed, and i'm not saying that temple is full because aadsas took too long. i am saying that i am sure that a school could be full and yet they would still allow to u apply (and take your $$), even though u wouldnt have a chance of getting in.

It's free enterprise. A week after I sent in my $$$ to some schools they kicked me in the balls. It's just another source of revenue which I agree sucks but is part of the system.

Did you get that financial aid packet yet? It came to my house mailbox, not my PO Box.

yup, got that same letter today. my sentiments exactly. i say start picking more faculty for the admission committee. if i'm spending money on aadsas to apply there i should atleast get looked at.

I didn't get my temple financial aid packet yet, they'll probably send it next week. Temple must have wanted you to get something first before I did. At least you know they got your tuition deposit.

I don't feel so bad 'cause I got an e-mail from a prof from Temple telling me that Temple should be my last choice because the school is underfunded, understaffed and the administration is totally inept. I haven't even heard those low blows from NYU. Good luck everyone though!

Why would a prof from a school tell you that? Shouldn't he be trying to sell the school. Anyways all I know about temple is that they graduate most of there dental students and the students I talked to seemed to like it for the most part. If temple is your last choice that is fine, but please don't announce this when you know that many people worked there ass off and got into temple and are going to temple. Go Owls and thanks to all the Temple students that heiped me with my questions about the interview.

I'd like to see you produce this email...

For anyone, in or considering attending Temple, one prof I know who teaches there, along with a few, well-known local dentists who went to UPenn, think Temple is an excellent choice, and prepares you for a career as well as anywhere else.

Temple is/was definitely not my last choice...it was definitely in my top 3. So, yes I was a dissapointed when I got the letter, but expected it because I knew I had sent in my application a little late. I really didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm sure that those attending Temple are wonderful students and will enjoy their time there. I didn't make this e-mail up..I was actually shocked when I recieved it. And if anyone would really like me to reproduce the letter I can PM them. It comes from a recently retired professor. Please...I didn't mean any harm. I was just trying to relay information. Once again..good luck to those who are waiting and good luck to those attending Temple next year.

As soon as I said Temple didn't cash my deposit, sure enough my bank sends me a email/reciept of a cashed temple check.

Looks like things are slowly rolling along.

I got my PIN number, but no financial aid packet (well I got a dark green paper telling me to submit my FAFSA, is that the "packet"???) 😕
