Hey guys,

On the test day are we allowed to choose the seat we want? I've heard of people wanting to choose it (i.e. in the back), but Prometric seems to say that the seats are already pre-assinged. How open are they if you ask for a switch or something?

Also, are you blinded from the rest of the people getting uip and down during the test by dividers or anything?

Does it help getting there particularly early?

WOuld you suggest getting a hotel right near the testing center so as to minimize traffic issue, or any other problem that might arise?

Thanks!!!

I don't know about changing your seat assignment because they have people coming and going to take different things all day, but there are dividers between you and the people on either side that should be sufficient if you hunker up close to the computer to prevent you from being distracted. But the proctor walks around every 10 minutes or so, and people are in and out... maybe the ear muffs could have helped with this (I didn't use them except for a half hour period while the woman next to me was typing furiously). Getting there early lets you get started early, which means you get done early, which is a good feeling. If you leave your place early enough, a hotel shouldn't be necessary; additionally, I've heard people don't sleep as well if they get a room closer to the test location.

Good luck!

I highly doubt prometric is going to give you a choice of seats, but you'll never know if you don't ask your test center - each one is different. That said, at my test center, every seat appeared to be exactly the same. The computers were in a very closed up room with fluorescent lighting and cubicle-type dividers sectioning off the rows of computers and more dividers between each computer in a row. It really wouldn't matter where you sit - the view would be exactly the same..all you can see is the inside of your "cube." The dividers weren't so tall that you couldn't see over them, but you wouldn't want to be looking all around anyway because that would look a bit suspicious. You will probably be so focused on test day that little stuff won't bother you, but if you are worried I would recommend getting used to doing practice questions with some distractions (like in a busy computer lab). What are you worried about exactly?

As far as a hotel, it depends how far you are from the test center. If you are fairly close (less than ~1 hour away) I would just leave with plenty of time, making sure you know the route. Maybe even drive the route at the same time (weekday or weekend, depending on when your test is), and make sure there aren't any significant special events going on on your test day. If you're a couple hours away, it's a toss up. You want to get a good night's sleep which would probably be done best at home, but if you're going to be really worried about getting there on time, being at a nearby hotel might ease your mind.

:luck:
