Test is 6 weeks out, what is a good UWorld average to be at?

So I'm about 6 weeks from my test date, and class is wrapping up so I'm thinking it's probably time to go balls out for the boards.

I've begun really flying through UWorld, 100-150 questions today. I'm sitting at probably 70% correct taken timed and with all possible categories checked. Previous to that, I hovered in the 60's for quite a while. I have a couple hundred unused questions left, then I'll either reset, or just keep taking what it serves me.

I haven't done much more in FA than study up on the questions I don't absolutely know the answers to (meaning either I missed it, or was correct but didn't feel confident or guessed outright).

I'm not sure I want to pay for any NBME practice exams, I do have one UWSA.

Anyway, if I want at least 230, is there a way to tell based on UWorld practice tests if I'm getting there? And how accurate have the USWA's been at predicting scores in the past?

Thanks in advance.

Would you mind sharing what you did to study for step 1 and over what time course?

From what I've read it looks like UWSA1 nailed people's actually step 1 score, while the UWSA2 typically overshot the actual score by 10. I don't have any statistical data on that, just a "feel" from the numerous posts on the subject.

Well really I haven't started "studying" per-se. I've been most of the way through UWorld, started in late January I think. I sorta decided I wanted to initially use it to judge where I stand; you know, to identify areas to focus in on.

I think I'm ready to start the actual "full-time" study now.

My average has been 66% (timed, random, with about 20% left) and I scored 242 on my last NBME. While doing better on UWorld obviously means you have a better grasp of the material, remember that UWorld is a learning tool and not an assessment tool. Your goal should be to LEARN. Getting as high of a % correct as possible is a somewhat secondary goal IMO.

It's not allowing me to link the page, but if you google "usmle step 1 predictor uworld" the first link (Clinical Review USMLE score calculator) might be helpful.

I would do NBME exams. They are pretty different from UW, especially after you've done a bunch of questions. Your strategy has to be slightly different: each question is on average easier, but you have to be careful and can't miss as many.

Should I do all of them? My school makes us take on at the end of the month. Should I buy the rest and do them?

Any advice on how to space them out?

Dam you guys are killin it!

Im about 8 weeks out with 20% uworld done on random at 60% correct (my last few Blocks have been in high 50s, 60 a few times, and one 65) ... and sadly I have a brutal 3 weeks coming up so wont get any board studying done. I was aiming for 240.... but I doubt that will happen at this point given my class schedule.

Dude, don't worry about it. 1) You have plenty of time, 2) 60% isn't a bad starting point IMO (sure, compared to the ridiculous people that do 70%+ it is, but that's unusual), and 3) you'll still have five weeks of dedicated prep time. A 240 is totally doable once you hit studying hard though really it's hard to say until you do a NBME.

Yes, I understand this of course. But at some point, you have to begin using questions to determine whether or not you are where you want to be, right?

I have UWSA-2 that I can take at some point, but I'm not sure if I can believe the score it predicts, I've heard mixed things about the accuracy of these practice-exams.

I'm just trying to learn how best to determine when I am reliably in my desired score range so I can take the test with at least some confidence.

Have you already done UWSA-1? As mentioned in this thread already, it seems to be a better predictor

I havent done an assessment yet, but I assume they are timed. Is that correct? How many blocks is the exam? 4?

4 blocks, 46 questions each block.

Not sure if you could just take 4 consecutive 46 question block from the qbank on timed, random mode and get the same effect, but it seems like the questions were similar if not just a touch easier.
