No, but I am assuming after the winter break. With finals and everything else going on, they will probably just wait to do all of that after we come back.

Have interview invites started going out yet?
I haven't heard anything yet. I suppose it is only 4 days into the year though... so maybe we'll hear back soon.
Wow, this thread is finally starting to pick up a bit. I was wondering where the activity went!
I haven't heard anything on our end yet, but I'll see if I can ask one of the students on the Admissions Committee and get an answer from them.

We just started school again today. I would imagine interview invites will start going out in the next 2 weeks.
Just got an email confirming all the pre-req courses I've taken and completed. Looks like a start!
Can a current student/someone familiar with Kingsville please tell me what you think of the city? Is there a lot to do around there? What is the crime rate like? Anything you particularly like or don't like about it? e.g. weather? I'm currently an undergrad at UT Austin and have never been to Kingsville so any info would be helpful.
Most people from a large city will say that "it's boring" and "there's nothing to do."
Personally, I found the change of pace refreshing (at first, anyway, haha). There's no traffic other than a train that goes through the middle of town every so often. It has all the essentials in town, and is within a reasonable range to Corpus Christi for anything else (mall escapades, etc.).
However, if anything, keep in mind that with it being such a small school, you'll get to know others fairly quickly and will be able to adapt to any lapse of things to do, whether it is with trips to the local beach, barbeques, or just about anything else, honestly.
As far as crime, I've only seen that one person's tires were slashed at a different apartment complex and one person had her apartment broken into last semester, but in all three years, I haven't seen much else.

I spoke with Cecilia who sent out our checklists and she said that invites would start going out on Jan 25!
When did you get this checklist? I don't think that I have received one of those but thanks for the info!
Yep, I wouldn't be too surprised if they start going out soon. The first date I see slated for those interviews is Thursday, February 7th, so I hope y'all get an invitation to interview! Good luck and remember you can ask us questions about the college itself and stuff as well! 🙂
Anyone receive any word about interviews??
Hang tight. I would keep an eye on my inbox by the end of the week/early next week.👍
I also got my invitation today! So excited!!

I got the email at 3:09 p.m. central time
So are all the invites sent out?
Usually they send them all out on the same day, but I got my interview a couple days before, because someone canceled, so don't be discouraged, that happens quite often.

Interesting to know but it still has me a bit worried. I've been having trouble w/schools that have recently switched over to PharmCAS & them viewing my grades. I've received interview invitations from all of the schools that have been working w/ PharmCAS for awhile but flat out rejected from the one school that I interviewed with last yr but just started PharmCAS this yr. I'm not saying that I deserve an interview b/c I got one from everyone else but it does have me wondering how they are looking at my grades. Plus I retook some classes this past semester which would boost my GPA but I know PharmCAS didn't get the transcript till the 23 & It's not verified. I emailed the school on Monday & nobody has gotten back to me yet.....
Sent from my Galaxy S 3 using SDN Mobile
As for the exact dates the best I can do is refer you to the Director of AdmissionsWhen is the last day ti get your transcript in if onw gets accepted
( I don't want to give you a wrong date) MARIA DE LEON, she is super nice and can tell you more in detail of those things.
[email protected]
I hope this helps!
If you have any other questions let me know! 🙂
So did they send out all the interview invites on jan 25? Or are there going to be more waves?

Don't think there will be any more 'waves,' since some people already have interviews on the last interview date. But they should send out a few as people start to decline their invites.

Does the interview really just take 2 hours? Mine is scheduled for 2:30pm, so would it be cutting it too close if I booked a flight out of Kingsville for 7pm? It's because I have an interview the next day in OKC... :SP1 here!

Congrats on the interview invites everyone!
You should be finished with the interview in about 2 hours, so you'll probably be out by 5pm at the latest.

Too early 😛
J/K, go ahead and fire away with your questions.
Hi I was wondering if you could tell us what to expect on the interview day. how is everything set up? is it one on one interview or is it one applicant with pharmacy student and faculty or is it a group interview where there are all applicants and one or two faculty. I just want to make sure i sort of have a rough idea of what to expect so that I dont have a "freak out" moment. Any information would help. 🙂
Last year the interview was super short. It was actually the shortest out of all the interviews I went to.Does the interview really just take 2 hours? But yeah it was about 2 hours.
What I recall from my interview
an Interview ( with 3 people in a room. A professor, a student, and for me the 3rd person was a pharmacist.)
a essay section ( where we were given a random topic and we had to hand write the essay in I believe about 20 mins)
a Q&A section ( where you can ask students any questions you have about the school, professors, what to do for fun, where you should live, etc.)
It is nothing like Austin, this place is small, a little rundown, and there isn't much here, BUT that is part of its charm in my opinion. I personally find it refreshing from the busy cities like Houston and Dallas. Can a current student/someone familiar with Kingsville please tell me what you think of the city? Is there a lot to do around there? What is the crime rate like? Anything you particularly like or don't like about it? e.g. weather? 1) you can get to anywhere in town in about 15mins or less. (helps a lot when you need your sleep and study time. I don't know how I would have survived if I had to commute 2 hours everyday back and forth)
2) NO TRAFFIC (other than the train )
3) PARKING is cheap and you can pretty much find parking anywhere.
4) no distractions...( this is a pro and a con, the closest shopping mall is in Corpus Christi (45mins away) but that can also be a plus since you are here to study, but if you ever need to go to Corpus you can always hitch a ride with someone there are always people going there over the weekend)
5) I feel like since it is such a small town and there isn't much to do. You start to hang out more with your classmates and build a closer bond with them than you would if it was a bigger city and people were more spread out. I honestly feel that I probably would not have been as close to my friends if we were going to a school in a large city or a commuter school. As far as stuff to do, there is always stuff to do you just need to know where to look and be active at school. Things won't just come to your doorstep in Kingsville.
6) Kingsville is a nice cozy place to me and the people here really make it a great place for me. I enjoy my fellow classmates and the professors as well as the people in Kingsville. The place is really what you make of it.
7) The weather is meh, so far I like it not a lot of rain, not too hot not too cold, and then there are random days where the weather gets biopolar...Windy, cold in the morning then hot in the afternoon, silent hill foggy. The weather can be all over the place sometimes.
8) Crime rate....I haven't heard anything yet, just be smart about your stuff, lock your doors, don't leave anything of value out in the open, that's about it.
Things I dislike:
1) lack of restaurants ( I like to eat there is a limited selection )
2) lack of apartment choices ( there aren't many GOOD choices in kingsville)
3) the water lol
