Come on guys. I posted that it was a prank less than an hour after I wrote it. My roommate read it. Freaked out. Then almost kicked my @ss when I started laughing. You guys go back to normal and pretend this was all just a dream. . . just a dream. . . just a dream. . .zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'd come up with something clever to say to this guy but I'm afraid I've overdosed on chocolate.

Can't...think....straight. 😴

So on the match day we log in to TMDSAS and they will tell us the school at the top of the screen or in the little field that says school matched? I don't wanna look at the page and have my heart drop when i am waiting it to be uploaded.

I think it will come up where it says school matched. Don't worry, everything will be ok 🙂 Its only a tiny bit worse than waiting for MCAT scores :luck: :luck: :luck:

any chance we can withdraw from a school that we ranked (but thinking about it, wouldn't go if accepted)

I'm thinking its too late and I shouldn't have ranked it 🙁

So you'd rather not go to medical school at all rather than go to that school?

If so, I would call TMDSAS and ask about withdrawing because your future application cycle might be in trouble if you are accepted to a medical school but don't matriculate.

Unless you're talking about TCOM vs a MD school then I think it would be very foolish to withdraw, for the reason jota stated above.

COLTS AND THE UNDER, BABY!!!!!!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I can't imagine a school that I would dislike so much that I would rather wait a year than go there. Unless I found out they had some crazy hazing ritual. That lasted an unnecessarily long time. I'd really think about it if I were you. But you can call TMDSAS and ask if you REALLY think you should withdraw. Don't get too worked up either though. This time is really emotional because of the stress of this year's system. So take a deep breath (maybe even two), think about it, and decide if that's what you really want to do. 🙂

It tells you where it says "school matched." Last year for me it said "school matched: UT Medical School - Dallas" which had me confused because I was so used to reading Southwestern.

Yeah, we were talking about that the other day. I couldn't find Southwestern on the list when I ranked my schools. It took me a while to realize that UT Medical School-Dallas = Southwestern. 😕

If you do get ranked and don't go, I wouldn't think it would count against you as I'm sure many people would rather go to baylor than any other texas med school. And since Baylor is accepting even after the match, i don't think that TMDSAS have a "you have to go to your ranked school" policy.

on the other hand, i'm sick and disoriented and i have 3 tests this week 🙁 and i haven't even started studying yet because of sorority recruitment.

😕 This post makes no sense, because Baylor isn't part of the match. 😕

is every interviewed applicant ranked or...are some people not even ranked by the school? anyone know?

I think they mean that you could (if you wanted to) withdraw from the school you are matched to because many people withdraw from where they match to attend Baylor.

The grand point (I think) is that yes, you could withdraw from the school you matched to if you wanted to, but you could not attend another TMDSAS school. Also, withdrawing could be detrimental if you applied to TMDSAS again.

I'm honestly not sure, but here is what I think about it.

In theory, every interviewed person doesn't have to be ranked, but that would mean that the school would rather have an empty spot than that unranked person. I kinda doubt that, but I can certainly imagine someone so terrible that a med school might not want them. So my best guess is everyone is ranked everywhere they interviewed, but some will be further down on the list than others. Unless you are that really really terrible person 🙂 But I'm sure no one on here is 🙂 I <3 my SDNers

Are you suggesting that UTMB and UTSA does? You need to go double check that because they do not. A&M has a program in Temple, TX and Texas Tech has a program in El Paso, TX (which you can do years 3 and 4 at).

I admit that I was not fully informed on EM until I looked here and was shocked to not see anything for UTMB and UTSA. But to my credit, I am also interested in IM and UTMB is the only school affiliated with an accredited IM program that's in Austin.

Not everyone who interviews is ranked by a school. The schools interview more than enough people to fill their classes each year, so they can rank only the students that they would like to offer an acceptance to. Last year we interviewed around 900 people, ranked ~650 people, and went down to around number 360 to fill the class (if I remember it right). After you get in, during orentation, they usually tell you how and why you (as a collective class) were chosen. The interview just means that the schools want to meet you. They may decide that you are not ready or that you wouldn't be a good fit for their school. So, no getting an interview does not automatically mean that you were ranked by that particular school, but the chances are pretty good. Good luck to you guys/gals!

I know I'm kind of late on the band wagon, but I wanted to post my list:

1. UT-H
2. UTMB
2. TTU (pre-acceptance)
(declined interview at TAMU)

Alright, with that said, I must be some kind of mutant because I have NO IDEA what 'LMFU' stands for, and have been all over the TMDSAS site looking for some random update. Can someone please clue me in?

Also, (just curious because it's mostly irrelevant at this point) did any of the schools send out letters saying, "we're sorry, we're interviewing no more candidates" etc. Didn't get one from UTSW or San Antonio but I heard that UTMB did...

LMFU is last master file update (i was SO behind on this too so no worries) Its there when you look at your applicant profile. It means everything and nothing. Basically if something (no one is sure of what, interviews, acceptances, you think really hard about it, etc) happens to your file your date changes.

And I don't know if anyone but UTMB sent out letters. They are the only ones I heard about.

My LMFU is 020107. Did anyone elses change? It probably represents denials seeing that I just got the boot from SA. Either that or it means 100% certainty that I've been admitted to UT-H.

On the TMDSAS site they have this up under "Enter School Match Preferences"

School Matched:

Will be posted on February 15, 2007

[DO NOT CALL OR CONTACT TMDSAS regarding your match result.]

I'm guessing on Feb 15 at midnight the match will appear after 'school matched'. I realize how obvious this may sound to everyone but it's the first time I saw it on the TMDSAS site. EXCITING!! Ug, I can't wait any longer. This sucks...

Did you interview at UTSA? Was it a post-interview rejection? If so how did you hear?

No. I didn't interview there. The letter (not email) was dated Dec. 22nd and I received it two days ago.

don't worry. mine has been dead and buried since november 👎 but i try not 2 think about it hehe

Lol, don't worry about it. Last year, my LMFU date stopped in October and didn't change after that, but I still matched at my #1.

So how do you like SW so far? How are the profs, on average?

And what's uup with those work room things? They didn't mention it on my tour when I was there (joined up a few mins late due to long interview right before), but it was mentioned somehwere in a slide show... like 4 ppl to a room and they get a desk and workstation or something?

Maybe I'm just imagining things...?

I love UTSW, as you can probably tell by my constant cheerleading for the school on SDN. I'm not a huge fan of lectures and stopped attending classes regularly a few months into the first semester, so although I do attend every once in a while, I'm not the best person to ask about the professors. The degree of faculty interaction is really fantastic (ethics and human behavior small groups, faculty serving as TAs for cell bio & anatomy), and the lecturers and course directors are very accessible and helpful if you have questions or concerns. To be honest though, lecture quality does vary. We've had some amazing lecturers, and some who are not-so-amazing, but I think that's pretty much to be expected.

The work-room thingys are the carrels. They have 8 desks to a room plus two computer stations and are very spiffy. I like having my own designated desk plus cuboard space on campus. Also, we have microwaves and fridges in the carrels, so that's convenient. Overall, carrels = 👍.

yeah, you have personal study areas (carrels) which you can access 24/7. Good place to study if you like it dead quiet. It's also where your histology lab takes place. Pretty nice to have your own area to go to when you have nothing to do between classes. Typically you'll have 8-9 students per room.

Yeah I have to admit that seemed pretty cool.

does anyone have a validation date on their TMDSAS profile page or is everyone's still 000000???

becoming more and more paranoid by the day.

I AM GOING CRAZY, I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok I feel better now.

My validation date--12-12-06.......Not sure what they're validating though.

do you guys with a validation date have pre-match offers or are you depending solely on the match?

I believe Validation Dates have to do with TMDSAS validating each grade on your transcript, especially pre-medical courses. In my opinion, TMDSAS wouldn't bother "validating" someone unless they have an acceptance...which makes sense, since those that have said they have validation dates have had pre-match offers....

i think you are right tbone. mine valdation date changed dec 19 and i have no prematch offers. i graduated already and wasn't expecting any new grades so they probably went ahead and validated it.

I have a late January Validation date, and i had no pre-match offers. But it prolly means nothing cuz they started matching in february i'm guessing.

My Validation Date is 11/29/06, and my LMFU is 12/19/06.

I had prematch offers. It probably doesn't mean much in terms of acceptances or your chances thereof.

TMDSAS should just save us a lot of headaches by taking off the LMFU and Validation dates from the Status Page and keeping that information for their eyes only. I mean, all we really have to know is when they received our stuff and processed it...right? Why make us have mild heart attacks each time you are LMFUed!!??

cuz itz fun

I'll reserve the right to think that way until I get my acceptance 😀

From the TMDSAS website:

Validation is a process that TMDSAS does for those applicants who have received at least one interview. We go through each applicant's Record of College Work and verify that what has been entered matches exactly to what is on each transcript. In order to validate your coursework, we must have all of your transcripts (from every university/college ever attended).

I had 2 late interviews in TX..but no prematch offers. But my validation date is still all zeros. Blah, anyway..have to keep reminding myself to be patient, only 8 or 9 days left. Good luck.

I completely agree. I've called TMDSAS a couple times to ask questions about it and they've always sounded very irritated. If they didn't want questions why the hell do they put confusing crap on the site.

On a side note, I called TMDSAS today. I asked what time the match was coming out. I said that I've heard it is at 0:00 military time on the 15th. Some lady (who was very rude) told me not to bother staying up the night of match results. She said they'd be out on the 15th and told me to just sleep the night before. Obviously this lady has no idea what it's like to spend 4-6 years busting your ass over difficult course loads, community service, job shadowing, studying for and completing the MCAT, countless hours of research, filling out mind numbing applications, and preparing for and enduring the sometimes grueling interviews. I'm staying up all night.

I've looked at the old thread from last years match. It came out at midnight on the 31st (0:00 of the 1st). So I expect it to be the same this year. Check out the countdown in my sig. 8 days 4 hours :scared: :scared: :scared:

I'm staying up all night.

Do ppl really consider staying up till midnight as staying up all night?

If thats the case I have stayed up every night since I was 11 years old.

for me, since graduating from college and working 40+ hours a week, staying up till midnight = staying up all night! i do wake up at 430 every morning...maybe that's why it seems like all night!

1 week away from the big day!!

Match has been at midnight for the last couple of years that I know of...surely they wouldn't change it. 😉
