Well, most of us refer to Aggies as people from Texas A&M, which is the school that beat Texas this year in BOTH football AND basketball. Dictionary definitions also say it is an agricultural school or college, or a student enrolled at such college or school. See definition here

Also, because my best friend is gay, and because frankly its just a stupid thing to say, to correct you, Isiah Washington called TR a f*ggot. Which many in the gay community consider to be a VERY offensive, derogatory term. To say aggie's are that word is pretty offensive. But I can get over it. I'm not totally into being pc, but I just thought I'd get that out there for the people who may think its funny but also claim to be friends of the GLBTQQI (i don't remember if I got all the letters) community.

Also, just to put it out there to everyone who likes to laugh at us ol Aggies

We are a land, sea, and space grant university. (one of only 13 universities to have the triple designation)
We provide more commissioned officers in America's armed forces than any other non-military institution.
Our immediate past university president is now the Secretary of Defense and was the former head of the CIA.
We were the first university to clone a domestic animal
Another past president, General James Earl Rudder led his Army Rangers up the cliffs at Point du Hoc during the Normandy Invasion. (yeah that's right, he led them up a vertical cliff, with German soldier's shooting down, to do his duty for his country, sounds pretty brave and noble to me)
We have SEVEN Medal of Honor winners. (I believe Annapolis and West Point are the only other schools with more)
We also have Distinguished Professor and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Norman Borlaug.
And finally..... I found this little fact right here The highest percentage of medical and dental school students in Texas come from Texas A&M University.

Soooo... next time before you equate Aggies with a derogatory term, think about all the things Aggies have done.

And this post was meant with love. And to make some people think 🙂 (I swear I'm not mad, just stating the facts) 😍
 
And yeah... try not to stress before the match!!! We can do nothing but wait until the 15th. We can start stressing the 14th. Anything before that will just give us all indigestion. 🙂

I post every once in a blue moon. But I have a question that I hope yall can help me with. I logged onto my TMDSAS page and clicked on "choose medical school prematch offer" the one where you accept/decline and i noticed a major change that doesnt make sense - and has gotten me really anxious.

i had two prematch offers, TCOM and A&M. I declined TCOM and accepted A&M. So only two schools were listed on the page until....

NOW. Theres THREE! It says "decline" next to A&M and TCOM, but "accept" next to UT-Galveston. Somehow a third school was added..... However, the thing is I was NEVER offered a pre-match acceptance to UT-Galveston, but it WAS my number one choice when i entered my rank preferences.

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed something like this....

whoa. i suggest anybody who got a prematch & ranked a school higher than their acceptance, to go look at their page now. dude it looks like you got in to UTMB...but who really knows? TMDSAS would be kind of dumb to just leave it out in the open like that ....unlesss that's what they wanted hehe.

I just checked mine and I saw nothing like that. but oh my gawsh! I'd say call TMDSAS but since its after 5 I guess you'll have to do that tomorrow. I want to tell you to get excited too but I'd hate to say it until you know for sure. Wouldn't that be a crazy fluke in the system!? A not fair one but a fluke none the less. I'd call tomorrow for sure though. Does it say anything on the preferences page, since that is where it is SUPPOSED to pop up?
 
The preferences page does not list a school that I matched into. Yeah I suggest everyone start looking to see if its just a fluke or not....


I am not getting my hopes up because it seems too good/easy to be true.

BTW, aggiesarah, LOVED LOVED LOVED your definition of aggie. 🙂

Makes for a hilarious mistake in the system if they goofed. Good luck with match.

What are your LMFU and validation dates??!

I had no pre-match offer and still have nothing and i did interview at Galveston. Good luck to you though!

Not sure how this is relevant: LMFU - 121806; Validation - 121106

After further analysis on my Pre-Match Offers page, I no longer have an option to decline/accept for TCOM and A&M, it just says decline next to it ( doesnt have the accept option anymore); however, for my UT-Galveston one, theres an option to accept/decline.... but no save button. But it says accept.....

This is starting to freak me out because I accepted my pre-match offer to A&M and now it says decline, but says accept to a school (UTMB) that I was never offered an acceptace for. So according to the status... I'm not accepted anywhere!

I know I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing but this hasnt happen to anyone else?.......

If I were you, I would call TMDSAS first thing Monday morning.

I was just interested. I'm starting to think that the validation date will not be 000000 if you are accepted into med school. Mines 000000 🙁

About your problem, cheer up! It sounds like you got into your number one choice. Congratulations doctor!

Okay this kind of happened to me...not it says Texas Tech accept when I was not accepted prematch to Texas Tech...interesting...still hoping for SA or Dallas though

Did you rank Tech above any pre-match offers (if you had them)?
 
For those of you who have 1 prematch offer, does your TMDSAS accept/decline page list the 1 school or say you don't have multiple offers?

I did call my good friend (she can't get on SDN cause it makes her super anxious) and she had no pre-match offers and when she clickc on the prematch link it just says "you do not have multiple acceptances"

Right, I don't think LMFU means much. However, I bet the validation date is important. Some have said that TMDSAS doesn't bother validating grades and such if it does not appear that the student will be accepted into a med school.

If you have a pre-match offer and NO validation date please reply.

If you do not have a pre-match offer and you DO have a validation date also please reply.

I'm trying to see if, perhaps, we can already tell whether or not we made the match by looking at the validation date. The way I see it, TMDSAS (being as slow as they are) has no possible way of validating all the successful match students the night before the 15th. By my logic, they started validating transcripts the second students started matching with schools. Maybe I'm just confused about how this system works. I really hope I am because they have yet to validate me...
 
Oh yeah, and I'd also like to see if there is any correlation between an LMFU of 020107 and the validation date of 000000.

I'm going to be completely and utterly serious here, not something I do too often on SDN. I had no intention of equating "aggie" with "f*gget" in terms of sexual orientation or any other MEANING of the derogatory term "f*gget." I chose to make the quip simply on the basis that the two words look similar, without the f. I didn't even realize how simple it was to think that I was calling all aggies "f*ggets", which I most definitely was not.
 
Oh haha that's confusing there is no one of that description.

and if you graduated or not (that is you didn't have to turn in anymore transcripts!...so you would be done w/ the validation process)

updated transcripts from graduation do not change the validation date. They would change the Last RCW.
 
No prematch for me... I was validated in late january with no lmfu change since december.
 
hmmmmm i just got a lmfu recently, it now reads 020807.... this should mean that one of the 4 other schools is sending out rejections. I assume this because i only had 3 interviews and 3 pre-match acceptances. so there should be no other reason besides rejections for me having lmfus

I hate the TMDSAS. I am certain that the LMFU was a concept forged in the pits of hell by lucifer himself.

For any current students, or ppl who know for sure:

does UTSW videotape lectures and make them available online? Are ppt slides also readily available (if that's the medium profs use)?

UTSW records audio for MS1 and video for MS2. And yes you have lecture slides available in pdf and/or ppt.

Only the MS2 lecture hall is equipped for video recording, I think. Why don't they add video recording equipment to the MS1 lecture hall? I don't know, but with audio recording and power points available, I don't see the point.
 
Haha, I never imagined aggies as referring to ppl from A&M, to me it just reminded me of veggies. My Validation date changed 01/26 and my LMFU didn't change since december and I've had no pre-match offers and I'm still in school! It's hilarious all these theories about the TMDSAS system that comes out of pure anxiety while waiting for news...

thanks a lot man... but i don't think i deserve a lot of credit... i believe a lot of it was just luck and good timing... i have pretty ****ty stats compared to a lot of people here... with that said... good luck everyone, 4 more days!
