Good call. I guess God probably does too...
Seriously, doing the math, I would guess that they offer an average of about 12 acceptances per ADCOM meeting. There are approx. 150 spots (168 really, but I think 18 are for direct admission from Rice, etc) and they interview every other week from Sept. to Feb., so 150/12 = 12.5. I would probably expect there to be a fewer than average number of acceptances given out earlier, and greater than average number given out later. At the end of the day, this is all guesswork, however, because only the ADCOM knows how many they will give out.

EDIT: These numbers were probably off by a factor of 2 to 3. Multiply them by the acceptances:class size ratio (which I currently forget, but I think it is something like 3:1)

forreal where is TAMU and UTSW?
ive had interviews (or will) but its been silent for 3 weeks now! whats going on?

Irk - I've interviewed at TAMU, UTSW, UTMB, UT-SA, but no invite from UT-H - what gives?
I haven't heard from UT-H either. In addition to a bias against engineers, most of the people that I have spoken to on my interview circuit have said that UT-H also has a bias against non-traditional students. I figure that as a non-traditional engineer, I already have 2 strikes against me. <shrug> I've chilled out a lot about this whole process. My interviews all went well, so as long as I get in somewhere, I'll be happy.

Really guys... I'm really cool. At least thats what my mom says. 👍

That would explain it! I'm Electrical Engineering with a Math Minor (woot on the minor)... Guess that tells all... I'm a non-resident too so another strike against me. Nevertheless from what I've seen of Texas schools I like them a lot - UTMB even has severed heads in jars that they let you explore while on the tour... anyone find that a little creepy? I mean one guy was from 1927... grandpa is that you?

*crickets chirping*

hello, tejas schools...why have you been so quiet these past couple of weeks??

I'm hoping getting my MCAT score in 2 weeks will get them to start talkin'. I need some TX love!

So I want to send my interviewers cards, but where do you guys send them if the person was a fourth year student or if you can't find a decent mailing address? Should I send it to the academic affairs?

Oh God, being under review at your first choice is like that agonizing moment when "the guy" or "the girl" you like walks into the room, surveying its contents, and you're sitting there holding your breath hoping they'll look your way and chat you up. Ack, butterflies! Yeah, I know, next comes sweaty palms at the interview and more agony waiting for an acceptance/rejection. Argghhhh. Feels kinda good though. 😛

I haven't felt like that since those immature, bittersweet days of high school.

:luck: :luck: :luck:

But of course, if I get an interview, I'll make sure to banish those butterflies and be nothing but 😎 .

ETA: OMG, my application "has been" reviewed now. I am all over my inbox.

You can send them:

Name
c/o Admissions Office
Address

Only had that happen in 1 case with TX schools, and I just sent an email. A prompt email is better than a delayed (if sent through the admissions office, etc) snail mail card IMHO. But, in the grand scheme of things thank-you notes are nothing to stress over.

Woohoo! I just got two interviews today to NYMC and NYU! Too bad they're almost a month apart so I have to make two trips to NYC.

Wallet: Ouch!

Wow, NYU! Congrats, that's amazing.

I hear ya. The only Texas school I received an interview invite from was TCOM and that was back in August. My application was verified and sent out to schools on 7/12.

It's frustrating not getting any interviews from the state schools, but what is equally frustrating is the lack of rejections. At least put me out of my misery

TX schools won't give you an official rejection until February, so there's really nothing to do but wait unfortunately.

Wow, I did not know that. Does Baylor follow suit as well?

baylor doesn't finish interviewing until february but i didn't receive my baylor reject letter until at least april or something. you just know you're done if you don't get an interview invite by the end of the year.

also not that anyone cares but i'm starting to freaking out.

does anyone have the link to baylor's interview day schedule/confirm or reschedule date website?

From what I remember, the latest Baylor gave interview invites was early February and the latest they interviewed was later that month (2/24 this past year).

back to another depressing session of late-night studying...

That's what happens to you when you get married, you become a dork. My days of being as cool as AggieJohn are history.

 👍 😎

I'm engaged, so I'll soon be following suit. I'm currently researching ways to maintain my high level of coolness.

What's the deal here? You people need to stop getting married! Who the heck am I going to party with in med school?

I may be a dork when it comes to making jokes but I can dam sure party (sans chasing the ladies). I get loud and rowdy, part of my oilfield trash family upbringing that no amount of education will ever cleanse. I'm a softie when it comes to dive bars and a good old-fashioned bar fight (as a spectator of course😉 .)

YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! I got a Baylor interview invite 😀 . It was sitting in my mailbox after I got back from Galveston. You wouldn't believe how excited I was. It was embarrassing. I must like the school more than I thought 😳 .

On another note, istream, the link should have been in the email they sent you. Surely you didn't lose it :scared: .

Me too....received the email invite yesterday. :luck: :luck:

Yes, I've posted this in something like three different threads... I'm THAT excited. I love all the TX schools (and that isn't just for any adcoms reading this - they all have their "thing" and I appreciate that), but Baylor is special - plus all my early mentors went there... so they are all excited too.

Maybe I was a little premature in my reluctant fate acceptance (see below).

......Clearly I am not destined to be in Houston..... I have accepted my fate.

Congrats! So when are you going to be there? I'm Nov 3rd. I haven't met/outted any SDNers yet at interviews, but then again I like to remain anonymous too.

Hey all,

An interview from Baylor is something to hang your hat on. Congrats.👍

"Outted" - that makes me laugh. As though you need to be in the closet if you surf the net.... oh wait.... 😳

🙂 I'll be there Nov 3rd as well. In fact, I just bought the ticket today. I'll be the old woman asking about housing for families and such.

Hahaha. Let me know if you need pointers about Houston. I'm a local 😀 , though maybe not a very knowledgeable one.

I should prolly be embarrassed by the colloquialism but I ain't. Please don't let adcoms come on here and see how I really am. At least I spell correctly, rite?!!

😀

Baylor rocks.👍

Congrats to the people with new invites! I'm sure you'll fall in love with TMC, as I did. I swear my heart rate and bp go up in anticipation everytime I read this thread. UT-H don't let me down!

Wow. I just heard from Southwestern for an interview in early November. I really didn't expect to hear back from them. This is a pleasant surprise =)

It has been a quite few weeks but perhaps things are turning around. Good luck everyone!

Excellent! UTSW is a great school. I am glad to hear at least a little bit of activity from Texas schools. It has been pretty dead on here for a few weeks.

Just an FYI for all you people applying to UTSW:

Two more interviews were recently added beyond the original schedule. October 7th, and November 4th. There are 66 people scheduled to be interviewed for October 7th.

I think they are receiving a lot of applicants this year.

Good luck.

yippee more free lunch for us... uhh, I mean, interaction with interviewees~!

Good luck with the rest of your interviews, folks, and enjoy your time before med school. If you're interviewing at UTSW in October, just be aware it's a rather hellish month for us MS1s, with 4 exams so close together and all, so don't blame us for looking so stressed. 😉
