Woke up this morning, checked the inbox, and in between two spam e-mails, there was an e-mail from an unknown sender with an attachment. Turns out it was the slideshow to my first acceptance. Go UTMB!
 
I had an interview at Galveston on Friday. I just got into TCOM....and I had three other interviews already (UTSA, UTSW, and TT).

I'm struggling trying to decide whether to cancel or not. They told me they needed to know by Monday (two days ago), and I feel completely bad canceling right now.

On the other hand, I have an acceptance from a school I love and which I would choose over Galveston any day.

What should I do? Would it be extremely rude and annoying if I called for the umptenth time and canceled, two days before my interview???? 😕

If you would choose it over galveston, then cancel galveston. I don't think it'd be rude.

I guess that's what I'll do. I'll save myself $300 bucks on travel expenses...which I didn't have to begin with anyway 🙄 .

It's just that I feel bad giving up and interview...selfishness is telling me to hold on to every single chance of a spot :laugh: , even though rationality tells me one acceptance is all I need, and one acceptance I have.

If I get accepted to more than 1 place I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. :laugh:

I still feel bad on cancelling only with a two day notice. 😳 😕
 
Congrats to all the TX acceptances!!!

I'm sure it's a huge relief to know this early in the process, and some with multiple acceptances as well.

I know one thing, I will make my decision by December 1st for which school I want to attend. There is no sense in holding acceptances if I have a higher ranked acceptance. I am tired of worrying over this process, and I am so ready to go to the next stage. But, I want to tour the schools one more time where I have been accepted before making my choice. However, this time I will be more involved in accessing the situation. I feel like the interviews so far I've been window shopping; but now I have money and I'm ready to buy!
 
I have a question. The UT-Houston letter says we need to respond by Dec. 1st. Does this mean that if we take the acceptance, we'll be bound to attend UT-Houston? I thought we had until Dec. 31st?
 
I asked this question at my interviews (TT, TAMU, UTSA) and I was told that we can accept the offer. But if I still have not heard from my first choice then for the match I can rank my first choice number one. Then if my first choice accepts me in the match then I will go to that school. So you basically can hang on to your offer from you second choice school and still rank another school higher during the match in hopes in getting in to that school. I hope this made sense...

32R, 3.2 cum, 3.0 BCPM. I think I saw someone with a 29 get in too, so it's not numbers based.
 
^Yes, I got into UT-Houston with a 29O and overall gpa of 3.67, science gpa of 3.5. So I would say it was definately not numbers based.

So do TX med schools not require a deposit? All I got from the two schools I was accepted to (TCOM, UTSA) was a form that I had to sign and return. I called UTSA and they said there's no deposit. That just seems odd... everyone else needs at least a LITTLE money from people to ensure they are committed to their respective school choice.

Not complaining, believe me... just curious. Anyone else know if TX has always been that way?

Okay, I just sent the e-mail. I hope they don't hate me too much...maybe I should have told them how poor I am.
 
man, i was kinda hoping i wouldn't have to choose between houston and galveston.

I can't believe I got into UT Houston this early with a 28 on the MCAT. Anyways congratulations to everyone!

I interviewed everywhere but UT-H (and TCOM -- I didn't apply there.)

I have heard from no one 🙁 Now it's MY turn to panic!

Congrats to the UTMB acceptees!
 
dont forget they will still be sending out more in the next month or so. dont get bummed out yet!
 
I was a little bummed out last night when I hadn't heard from Houston, but this morning's email from UTMB made up for it!

I understand, it's hard to hear of people being accepted...i've felt sick to my stomach all night. Hopefully we'll hear something soon!!!!!! Good :luck: to you!

I'm with you here. I know it's early but that doesn't take any of the weight off. Congrats to those who have received acceptances, it is nice to see all of the hard work pay off, I'm sure.

Yeah, I'm starting to feel the worry about UTMB... San Antonio and SW are still up in the air. :luck: :luck: :luck: I was feeling happy that nobody had heard from them, and then feeling guilty that I would be sorry to hear of other people's good fortune! :laugh:

Try not to worry too much (said the pot to the kettle) 😛
And futuredrhouse the same, we'll get there. 🙂

So that just means you haven't heard from Galveston. You'll be fine. Congratulations on your baby. Is this your first?

Baby's always bring good luck with them...."la torta bajo el brazo", like we say in Spanish. You will get in, you've interviewed everywhere!!

Darn, I got so wrapped up in all this that I forgot to post the pic., as I promised. I'll do it when I get home from work. Thanks for all the support (and I hope that you are right about the good luck, baylormed!) This is actually our second child, and the birth was REALLY easy (unlike the birth of our first.) My wife even slept for a couple hours during labor (she had an epidural, of course.) Pushing only lasted 10-15 minutes (Neither of use was really keeping track.) Everybody is healthy (and, surprisingly, well rested.)

I PROMISE I will post pics when I get home. Thanks and good luck to all!
