I got my first interview invite on 8/31, and I was processed 8/25 by TMDSAS! I will be interviewing at UT Houston on 9/24. Anyone else have that interview date? Now that I got one invite, I'm anxious to get more... 🙂 But I'm just glad I got any...

Thanks, tx! I sent them an email late last night in a last ditch effort to get them to correct their typos, and they changed it!!! Woohoo! I must have reached a different person b/c the lady I talked to on the phone yesterday was like, no way are we doing it again. Anyway, my profile is partially filled in so I assume I'll be processed later today. Finally! Geez (33 days).

Nice!! Good to hear those typos were fixed in time--I know how nerve-racking it can be....you will be processed today and those invites will come in soonafter....good luck 👍

I was jus wonderin, i have my interview UTSW on 10/9; i wanted to get ur thoughts on postponing the interview to a later date (cuz UTSW allows u 2 pick a date from a drop down menu)

does it look bad to the adcom if you postpone the interview??

Quick Question: My advisor said we are supposed to write thank you notes to our interviewers, but several of them have not had business cards and I thought it would be rude to make them give me their addresses. Do you think it's OK to just mail them to the admissions office (or student affairs) asking them to forward them on, or should I just blow the whole thing off?

The guy at TCOM told me that sending thank you notes is stupid because everyone does it and it doesn't really show honest appreciation, so I don't know...

I agree with the TCOM guy. When I interview people for positions at my firm, I throw 9 out of 10 thank you notes away after reading the first line. They are a waste of time--especially since many times the interviewer has already reviewed your application, filled out all the necessary documentation, and sent it to people who make the decision BY THE TIME HE/SHE GETS THE THANK YOU NOTE. Then this thank you note comes along that goes straight in the trash. And most of the time, the interviewer isn't going to go back, get your file, and note "recieved thank you note".

I personally think that if you are going to send a thank you it should be informal and via email. Short, quick and to the point. Considering many schools notify you of interviews via email, I think a thank you email is perfectly acceptable. On top of that, it has the chance of being read before the interviewer puts the final touches on his reccommendation.

I'm pretty sure u can look up ur interviewers(if u remember their names) on the school's website.

As far as it goes, i think u should write them the thankyou note as it almost has become a norm...it really cant hurt either

I wouldn't say you are done for if you don't hear back within a month. However, I do admit that GENERALLY you hear from the schools pretty quickly and within a short span (all your invites come on or about the same time). This is obviously not the rule, nor is it necessarily true. I am just speaking from what I experienced and what people I know experienced. You will be fine. Hang in there.

I was processed on EDIT: 7/21 and received an invite from Tech on 8/31. But my 4 previous texas interview invites were sent within approx. four weeks.

EDIT:
TMDSAS processed: 7/21
Tech processed: 8/16
Tech email interview: 8/31

I had a friend last year who submjitted early and interviewed in January!

Also, I found out that San Antonio pre-ranks candidates, so if you do not receive an interview from them right away, you might still get one later (correct me if I"m wrong SA peeps)

Hang in there....we're all in the same boat playing the waiting game!

Have you checked the status of your app on their website?

According to their website, they still haven't received my LORs, application fee, or secondary application. But strangely enough, they managed to receive my signature page which was sent in the same envelope as my fee and secondary application. I think they're are a little behind on processing applications, as I sent in everything well over a month ago.

Oh, and the Tech interview went well...but then I always think that coming out of an interview so I really have no idea what they thought of me. 😛 Something I found interesting is that the Tech interviewers meet right after everyone leaves and votes on the applicants! 😱

aieeee!!! it's gonna happen by the end of the month... it has to for a lot of reasons. one of them being i cant keep shelling out $600 a semester to keep taking thesis research credits. sheesh. half the credits ive amassed at grad school are thesis hours i swear.

I have a question regarding the optional lecture sit in at 8 in the morning, I checked out the schedule for the week of my interview and it looks like the med students are going to be taking an exam 🙁 , now my question is this: are there going to be other classes (besides the ones on 3.102 and 3.104) to which I can sit in? and what is the purpose of this part of the interview? Will some of those students be part of the interviewing process? will it look bad if i skip it? Will it look good? any info will be useful. Thanks. And oh yeah, hope to see u at the social 🙂
