I'm currently looking into applying into most of the schools in Texas for next year and I realized that for some, their statistics class "must include ANOVA". I took the basic statistics course, which didn't include ANOVA. The statistics class that does have this topic is a separate one called 'statistics for the sciences,' but it requires me to take calculus 2. Umm... what?

Also, is it really recommended that I take a separate upper-level biology course for human physiology if I take A&P separate? That would mean that I would have to take organic chemistry in order to do human physiology.

What is up with all these prereqs?! Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm so confused and this is ruining my whole graduation plan -____-

What is your major? Where I did my undergrad, ANOVA was included in the basic stats class AND in Kinesiology Measurements.

I'm a kinesiology exercise science major. I know I have to take the kines measurement class, but I'm not sure if it has anova in it. Booty 🙁

Your KIN Measurements class should include ANOVA. I would contact the professor to see if it does and then contact the schools to see if the course is acceptable. I don't know about Texas, but many schools accept the measurements course for their stat requirements. There are many Texas applicants on the board who will provide you with better guidance on this.

Also, why upper level A&P course? Do the Texas schools require one? I know some schools require an upper level bio course which can be substituted with exercise physiology.

Thank you! I will contact the professors and also some people for the schools that require this to see if it is okay. And there are a few schools that won't accept exercise physiology as the upper-level human physiology course. I don't know why they don't.

Yup. ANOVA should be in you KIN Measurements class.

If that's the only option you have at your school, you may want to look into this upper division course offered online from UNE:

This is how I plan to meet the upper division physiology requirements for schools here in Texas. The course requires general biology, but no advanced chemistry.
