Texas Tech 2007

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have some friends who went to undergrad there, they stayed at a complex called Woodscape. They always said they had good management, cheap prices and recommended it most they knew. Might be worth checking out for some of you.

If I remember correctly, Woodscape is on 34th street and Vicksburg across from Coronado high school

Time flies when you are having fun. I don't regret taking that year off after undergrad. It's almost August and med school is around the corner. Besides the book, I have not gotten anything else. All that is left for me is to move in on the 8th and get settled.

Hopefully during orientation week, we can all go out and get to know one another and Lubbock.

TT interview requests (for next year) go out at the end of this week. I'm EDP and only applying to Tech. Hope to see some of you out there over the next year.

Congratulations on matching at Tech.

It's great to see that you are excited (and kind of scared) about starting med school. I will be starting my 2nd year in August and want to let you all know--YOU WILL BE JUST FINE.

It's definitely been worthwhile coming here and Tech SOM takes very good care of us. Hope all your financial aid stuff is in. If you haven't received a grant call Sheri Henry at the financial aid office and let her know you're interested (free money is always good). A classmate of mine is putting together a Lubbock guide for you guys--and we all are looking forward to seeing you in a few short weeks.

Again, welcome to the family.

Hey,

What's up with the Big Sib program and some alleged password website that the student affairs promised would be up and running around late June?

Thanks

Hey--

It appears that the stu affairs website has a link for the class of 2007 that has not yet been activated. It may help to call them and nudge them along. If you haven't been assigned a big sib, call and request one. If you have and they haven't contacted you then.......see if student affairs will let you have their name and email.

Anyways, you're just 2 weeks away from a whole new world.

Cheers

Has anyone gotten information about the Big Sib program or been contacted by anyone yet?

I told the student affairs office to release my information but nothing yet.

I knew a guy in the class of 2002 who said the student affairs office is notoriously late. Anyway.

Later.

It's getting closer to the time guys!!

I still haven't gotten my books. Someone mentioned that we should wait cause we may get them from our Big Sib... but I haven't heard anything yet and I'm getting anxious.

😕 How many of you have bought your books?

😕 Also, does anyone know what our White Coat Ceremony is going to be like? (parents are making a huge deal of it 🙄 )

Amelie
I received a packet with Orientation Social Activities, orientation parking info, and Class schedules just recently.

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

Just a thought: We should put our real names in our msgs that way we'll know eachother by those names. I just have an image of myself walking around Orientation and asking, "Are you Sugarbaby?"

I'll start. (Just copy & paste the info, then add your name to the list. Be sure to add the bold tags, it just looks better! 😉 )

Whaaaaa.......?!?!?!?!

So there is or is not a Big Sib program? If there is I haven't been contacted yet.

Have you guys been contacted by your Big Sib yet?

I just want to know because apparently they can get you hook-ups on books, scurbs, equipment, advice.

Thanks

Does anyone know how good the cell phone coverage in Lubbock is?

What service providers are out there? I think there are only two.

I have Verizon and want to know if that will be a problem?

The manager said it shouldn't be.

Anyone else with Verizon?

I just moved in Saturday (yesterday) and got a phone from Cingular. So far...so good. But I guess you never know how the service will be in the long run. Anyone else moved in yet?

My brother lives in Lubbock and has sprint. No problems at all. This is not true about sprint in other cities though.

I have Sprint and I haven't had any problems here.

Does anyone have/know any internet cable service here in Lubbock?

I have cable internet with Cox Communications along with the regular cable tv. I don't know if there are any other providers.

From the sounds of these last several posts, one might assume that everyone pretty much believes Lubbock is still untamed wilderness, lol
