FYI, there is a mistake in some of their emails and CASPer is NOT required. It is bolded in one of the emails to make sure to send your score, but this school does not appear on the distribution list. I called the admissions office and it is a mistake in the automated emails, they said they haven’t updated it yet but confirmed it is no longer required moving forward!

@radiant-math Thanks for the update. Texas Tech El Paso does want the CASPer test but Texas Tech Lubbock is not listed.

Most Texans apply to many, if not all, of the TMDSAS schools, so they will be needing to complete CASPer + Duet.

I'm not sure what to write for this prompt: Have you experienced any road bumps in your academic career? (Low academic performance, dropping, retaking, or failing courses, etc.)

I had a bad GPA at community college, but I wrote about this in my primary. I don't really have much more to say, so should I just click no or try to come up with something?

I would select yes. Then just write a couple of sentences summarizing the situation and how you dealt with it. Since your primary already discusses it, I wouldn't worry about expanding on it too much, but I wouldn't indicate "no" to a question that you should address when explicitly asked about.

Current student at HSC. Happy to answer questions as best as I can about anything to do with the school. No ties with admissions so asking me will not affect your chances or anything like that, but I'm happy to provide tips based on my own experiences etc.

Thank you. I actually emailed them and that's pretty much what they told me to do.

Would COVID-19 and going remote be considered a road bump in my education?

Please indicate the area(s) of medicine you are interested in and briefly describe your significant activities.

For this question, can we talk about the skills we learned in the activities to be used in these areas of medicine? Or is it supposed to be just focused on describing the activities?

Both or either. They want to know if you have done something already to pursue your areas of interest (better than just saying you think you would like it, but not finding out by doing)

Please share with us your ideal practice. For example: Where would you practice? Who would your patients be? What would your specialty be?

For this question, do they have a prefer people that will stay in Lubbock and primary care?

Say your truth - private office, hospital, teaching at a med school- whatever

If I don't really have much low academic performance, would it be best to leave that question blank? Do you know anyone who did?

The question is worded "if applicable" so if it doesn't apply to you, answer "no" to the question

Interview received! scheduled for 8/1. LM 64.
Congrats! The interview here is very chill. Unless you're applying to a dual-degree program or FMAt, you'll have two interviews, at least one with a faculty member and maybe one with a current student. Both are super chill in my experience. Unless they've changed something, they have access to your full application except for GPA/MCAT. Make sure you're prepared to answer any questions on your application and brush up on basic medical ethics. They will ask you to explain what you would do in a hypothetical ethical dilemma.

Thank you for the advice. I will make sure to prepare. Thanks so much.
