Congrats!! I will be in Amarillo on the 25th of Jan. you?!

I signed up for Abilene for Feb 1. There were no January dates available when I looked & I've already visited the Amarillo campus before so I decided to go Abilene & check out the area. Plus I'm getting tired of driving & Abilene is closer. 🙂 I just wanted everyone to know that it looks like they are working during the break so good luck everyone!

if you don't mind me asking, when did you send in your supplemental application?

I sent in the supplemental around October 25 but I knew that they needed my fall grades for my GPA to meet the requirements. So it doesn't surprise me that I got an invitation a little late compared to others.

Alright one week until the interviews begin. I know you're going to be nervous, but do your best to relax and enjoy the experience! Remember that not only are you being interviewed, but you are also interviewing the school in a way to see how well you like it. Get plenty of rest the night before because the interview day is pretty long. Good luck everyone! If you have any last minute questions or any of that PM me or post on here, and I'll do my best to answer. I know this sounds like a really stupid thing to say right now, but have fun.

Do you guys know if they are still offering interviews? They are my top-choice school, so I'm kind of bummed I haven't received one from them. My prereq GPA is a 3.429, and I scored in the 96th %ile on the PCAT. I thought interview invites were based off of those two numbers. Is my GPA too low? Anyone know?

If you don't mind, when did you submit your application(supplemental + PharmCAS)?

I don't remember the date I submitted, but I received the email "Sent to Admissions Committee for Review" from Ms. Harrison on Dec. 13.

You're GPA and PCAT scores seems to be high enough to get an interview, considering the averages posted on their website. Maybe they're still in the process of reviewing... not sure if they have been on duty since winter break started. Hope you get an interview, good luck! :luck:

I hope you're right. Thanks for replying and for the kind wishes!

I'm in the same boat; I got that same email on the 13th and haven't heard anything since.

Hopefully the AdCom will meet and extend interviews to us! Hopefully...

Best of luck!

hey guys. I think the reason you guys have not heard back yet is not because of your stats. but becuase of the timing of your application. if you go to this page http://www.ttuhsc.edu/sop/prospective/applyfasttrack.aspx

it is a subpage of "apply now", they offer a fast track to admissions. all apps turned in before nov 1st will be given interviews in jan and feb. Don't take this offensively by I think most people on this thread submitted in late october early august, that's why we heard back.

I think if you submit after november 1st, youll heard back soon after the fast track people. Trust me.

my GPA is a 3.0 and PCAT is a 56, and I got an interview invite. You relax, you guys are fine!🙂

Congrats to you all!!
Got an interview, too! I am scheduled for Feb. 1st in Amarillo - still have no clue how I'm going to get there at 7:30am on a Friday morning from Austin, but I guess I'll figure it out eventually.

For those of you who have submitted your Merlin application, did you get any confirmation of the submission?

I have all the check marks and officially submitted but I thought it was odd not to get any sort of confirmation email. Should I be worried?

I did get a confirmation email when I applied that said they received both the PharmCAS and supplemental application. If you feel unsure about it, you should contact the school.

Was it immediately after submitting or did it take a few days?

I can't seem to look up the exact date since the Merlin supplemental application is closed and my submission date was near a holiday. But it appears to me it was within 2 days after submitting my supplemental application. Hope this helps 🙂

I did not get a confirmation at all and I still got an interview a couple of weeks ago

Thank you for the replies! I feel a bit better now. I just submitted a few days ago and the deadline just passed so I can imagine its a crazy time at admissions right now.

Congrats on the interview TheRecoverer!!! I've seen your name come up on a few of the school forums that I've applied to!

Does anyone know if the interviews are open or closed file?

Does anyone else have an interview for Feb 8th? I was thinking about flying from Austin to Amarillo, with a layover in DFW? Would any of you ladies be interested in splitting a hotel room? The school said that Holiday Inn gives "interview discounts". Thanks 🙂

I just had my interview on Jan. 11th in Amarillo, and I stayed at the Holiday Inn and they didn't give discounts for pharmacy intervews. It was just the regular rate unforunately.

I had my interview back in October and the discount worked for me. Good Luck with your interviews!!

Get ready for a looooong day. Tech had the most tiring interview process from what I remember.

I did get a discount at the Holiday Inn, and have a room for the night of February 7th; if any females are up for splitting a room, let me know! They provide shuttle service to and from the airport, and also to the interview in the morning. Thanks!

It is a long process since it starts pretty much at 8am and then Q&A at the end of the day around 3-4pm. But honestly, I'd prefer an "interview day" rather than travel to the site just to have my personal 30-minute interview. I liked Tech's interview much better than UofH. Tech's interview is long, but it includes the personal interview, group interview, campus tour, provided lunch, and Q&A with current students. UofH had a group interview and a one-on-one interview for me and it didn't give me an overall view of the program like Tech's did. Yes it is long, but it helps when you look back on your interviews to see what program would best fit you. 🙂

Quick question: my status on merlin says "no status". Not quite sure what this means? I haven't recieved any notification from a counselor or the automatic emails saying my application was sent to committee. I submitted my supplemental and PharmCAS back in Nov/Dec. Any one know what may be going on?

I have been getting the same thing since I submitted my application in September

yeah, it was seriously the longest day ever. Make sure you go to bed early the night before & get a lot of rest because you have to check in at 7:30 a.m.

I am new to this forum. I am going to have an interview with Texas Tech. I just hope to get some advices to score the interview. Thank you

Hey, I have an interview in Feb 8th too in Amarillo. A double-bed room at Best Western Medical Center Inn is $60, and it is a walking distance from Texas Tech pharm school. If you are looking for some affordable place, i think that is a better deal. see you at the school.

For sure that's a great deal! One of the ladies I talked to said to keep an eye out for the weather if you're walking though. I found that Holiday Inn was a better option for me personally because of the free shuttle service to and from the airport, rather than hailing a taxi and paying $35 ish each way.

anyone know the out of state tuition? Im getting mixed messages. is it around 26ksih per year or 50 k per year? anyone know? THANKS

Hi,
I am going to have an interview in February. Can you give me as much advice as you can about the personal interview? I don't know what questions I can and cannot ask you, but anything you can suggest me what I should be prepared and done during the interview. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hey everyone,
I'm currently a P4 at Tech. I'm here to answer any questions you may have about the program or the school.

Just a little about myself. Went to UT for undergrad, 3.25 GPA 80 PCAT. Did my first 2 years of pharm school in Amarillo, and my last 2 in Dallas. I'm a week away from finishing my 4th P4 rotation and being halfway done with my last year of school! I'd be happy to field any questions about classes, rotations, or anything else you can think of. I am also applying for a residency, so I can try to answer any questions you might have about that.

I've interviewed 30+ students for the school as well, so I can answer questions about the interview process or give some interview advice if you'd like. If anyone here was at the early decision interviews in Dallas, you've probably already met me.

Questions I won't be able to answer would be anything having to do with the application process. When I applied, Texas Tech wasn't a part of PharmCas, so I am entirely unfamiliar with how that whole process goes down. Hopefully your future classmates or current P1s can help with that. Otherwise, I'd suggest emailing Sharon Harrison. Side note: The student services at Tech is unmatched by any other school. Don't hesitate to ask them any questions. I interviewed at 5 other schools and none of them made me feel as comfortable and at ease as the staff at Tech.

As for the smell, you get used to it. It was pretty bad while I was a P1, but I hardly noticed it P2 year. However, there are days, when even those who were born and bred in Amarillo were bothered by the smell. I was more annoyed with the snow. Coming from Austin, I'd seen snow fall once. Adjusting to driving in the snow sucked. And I don't mean to pile on, but for some reason, the worst drivers in America all decided to live in Amarillo.

However, the school itself has many redeeming qualities and it's a great program. I'm really glad I chose to go to Tech. I'll do my best to check the forums and answer questions. Good luck to all the applicants!

All we can hope for is to have a nice weather on that date. I have already booked the Best Western Inn. I am gonna drive there with my best friend. She gonna drop me off at the interview location. good luck to both of us.

Can anyone else verify that the current interview invites sent out are for the Fast Track applications? I'm very antsy. :scared:

I sent my application in on Dec. 3rd, which is not Fast Track, and I have my interview on 2/1. I don't think there is a need to worry, though, until they actually send a rejection letter. If you want to know for sure if they are still extending interview invites, just give them a call. They are kind and happy to help.
