I don't think they are going to look at your essay for interview invitation. I talked to the admission office before and they told me that pcat and gpa are the two factors that they consider for sending out interview invitations.
 
okay im 22 and its going to cost me over 100 dollars to rent a car so is anyone else going to the amarillo 20th interview, i could split the cost of the rental or pay you like 50 bucks to take me from the airport to the dury 15 miles, dury to interview 2 miles, then to the airport 15 miles or if you don't think 50 is fair name your price... I think a cab would be expensive too, does anyone know how much a cab would be?
 
Come on,Tech! I'm still waiting to hear from you for that invite. Received one already from University of Houston! Does anyone know if Tech has started regular admission invites yet? I really thought I would receive one from Tech before Houston.

Yes dey have, If your lucky enough you may get some early interview dates. i missed the early admissions deadline, but I still had the option of interviewing during the early interview dates. But I chose March 6 for regular admissions. I wanted more ime to prepare.

Congrats! 👍 May I ask when you submitted your application? About how long after you submitted after you app did you hear back from Tech?

I submited it on january 25th, and I heard from them feburary 11. Hope this helps

I think its about $35 from the airport to the school. Check the link they send with your invite. It has the estimated cab rate, hotel stay etc.

I see that you are staying at the Drury Inn(?), so I'm not sure about the cab rate for that, but if its only 2 miles away from the school, the rate should be similar.
 
So when are they supposed to let us first rounders hear something about admission status? I remember Mr. Knall saying something about the 1st or 13th of March we should know something. Sound right ?

I was under the impression we would find out late Feb early March.
 
I wonder when the invites for the march interviews will be sent out...and for those who received invites in the previous rounds, were you able to choose the date?

Yes, you get to choose the location and the date through the application portal. Not sure when they'll send out the invites for March.

i'm interviewing on march 6th at amarillo

Does Tech need our spring transcripts in order to make an interview offer decision? My advisor just emailed me saying she has forwarded my applicaiton to the committee, but on my Merlin it shows "spring transcript needed". Is anyone in the same situation?

I can't comment directly on your situation, but from my experience, they didn't really update my status too well on Merlin. It STILL shows that I haven't turned in my oath of residency on the update page even though I interviewed on Feb. 6th.

You should probably call and talk to Mike Schwetteman (sp?) to determine your status and what you need/don't need. They're pretty good at helping you get things worked out though. Just don't expect your status online to be a true indication of your overall status. Better to call and find out.

That was what mine said until, the status said invited for interview check email. I think the next time they meet is early march so you would hear something in like 2 or 3 weeks.

So friday felt like a very long day for me. I was like zombie at the end. I'm not really sure how my one on one interview went because it was really hard to get feedback from my interviewer. We were done with the questions after 25minutes and then I tried to fill in the time by asking lots of questions. My faculty interviewer had a very flat affect and I'm not sure if he liked my answers or not. I think I saw him smile maybe twice. Did any of you guys feel the same way?

I got an email telling me to check my merlin status page. (I was given the option to choose between March 13th and 16th) You will hear back from the college as soon as your advisor forwarded your application to the adcom for review.

I hope you hear back from them soon! Good luck USPharmer! :luck:
 
RNtoPharmacy, who was your interviewer? Maybe I can tell you if that is just his personality. 🙂
 
so my interview was the 20th i know i won't hear anything back till after this last round of early interviews on the 27th but how long after that? when they were talking about what happens after the interview they just kinda beat around the bush and didn't give a specific day. If you have a 27th interview do yourself a favor and ask them what day they are meeting.

They told us the ad com meets on 3/6 and we'll hear something back after that (usually through mail).
anyone else hear anything different?

r-u freakin joking me the 6th then getting stuff together 2-3 days then snail make 4 days 🙁 poo I can't take it lol i am constantly checking SDN cuz i know nothing will be in my email

I'm actually waiting on an out of state interview I did in January. They had said that I'll know if i'm accepted by april.😱

Mar 6th isn't so bad. I'm actually very happy that tech is so quick, now if only they would email us rather than use the postal system!!!
 
So March 6th, I wonder if the mail goes out that day or waits until Monday? I only ask because I have a test on March 11th and it would do wonders to know before hand if I'm in or not.

I early interviewed Feb 13th and they told us by March 1st they will send out e-mails andddd mail. open the letter over a trash can......youll see why when u get it i dont wanna ruin the surprise. But definitly by e-mail.

They told us that they already went over the first 2 groups stuff and they are selecting about 30 out of there and then 30 out of the last 2 groups. they said they meet every two weeks or something I don't know jeeze they told us that you will get the snail mail first cuz they wait like 4-5 days before they update the online :scared: gosh i shoulda took notes or something im going crazy here/

I told you the worst part was waiting to hear back after the interview. Are you losing your minds yet?

I'm sure it won't be too long before you start hearing something. In the meantime - BREATHE! 🙂

is it true that after interview is offered, gpa and pcat score would not be considered as parts of decision making process? I thought they are going to look at everything(gpa, pcat and interview score etc) before making offers

It depends on the school.
I think at Tech, all the activities we did during the interview day will factor in, as well as GPA and PCAT scores.
Didn't they say something along those lines? anyone else remember?

I could be completely wrong about Tech, but I thought that everything is considered during the admission process. Whoever interviews you doesn't have access to your PCAT score and gpa, so their evaluation of your interview is calculated like everything else into your final decision. Their is an overall committee that takes into account how your interview evaluation went. Like I said though, one of the current students could say something different, and then I guess I don't know what I'm talking about. 😎

But remember that if you are invited to an interview, there is something that the committee likes about you. They're not just going to extend an interview invitation in hopes that it will be the only thing they like. Your academics and extracurriculars got you somewhere. Now if your gpa and pcat are a little lower, you may have to perform better in the interview than the next person with higher stats.
 
My guess is that they look at everything when extending offers but this is what they state on their website.

"Once you have been selected for an interview, you're GPA and PCAT scores are no longer considered by the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application. From this point forward, the admissions criteria are based on your on-campus interview."

"Once your interview is completed and we have compiled the scores from your various assessments, the interview score is adjusted by past performance in academic classes. Unfortunately, your previous course failures, if you have any, follow you through this process. Your interview score will be adjusted by subtracting 10 points (out of 100 points) for each F and 5 points for each D you have made previously in any of the pre-pharmacy course requirements if you made the D or F in a course taken within the last seven (7) years."

They said something about how important the interview process is at the interview but I don't exactly remember it. It is like there is an overall score and the interview is worth like 60% of it, so it is important but not everything. I might be wrong, because I can't recall what they said exactly. Then I read through the catalog and that said something different. so which one is true?
 
If you don't mess up the interview you are fine. Just prepare and do well and most likely you're in.
 
Well once you get to the interview, then everyone is on an equal playing field. Someone with a 4.0 and a upper 90 PCAT score and who totally bombs the interview will not get in. That whole day is what decides whether or not you get in or not.
 
So I just received an interview for March 16, the Monday of Spring Break.

But 8-5? Wow.

For those that have already been interviewed, did it really last from a whole entire day?
