sup guys, im a 3rd yr in abilene thought i'd share some insight ontop of whats been said already by a couple of my classmates:
1. Abilene > Amarillo --> last 3-4yrs Abilene students (individually and as class) have higher scores/gpa ...closer to DFW, less distractions (bars close at 12, sorry ), 40 student class makes it more homey and def closer relationship building with classmates, most of us r willing to help anyone b/c were still growing
2. Yes, sign up for earliest possible interview and be prepared. Your app gets looked over and over everytime the admission committee meets, so earlier you get in, more chances of getting in. I was in the very first group in abilene and >80% of my group got in (early admission feb 13 i think)
3. Yes, TT is making us take a drug assessment test over top 550 drugs on Jan 5th, 2 days after fall break....price of failure has dropped to $400 i think and u can remediate. they "expect" 99% to pass, but no one knows what this is gonna be like. instead of trying to teach us now b/c of what past grad have said they wanna test the heck out of us.
4. TT is very dynamic in teaching, seems like curriculum changes every yr based on our feedback, P1 this yr has it super easy, getting out at 12 almost everyday. P2 this yr has been super rough for last 2 yrs (courseload wise). P3 has been fairly doable.
5. TT is a CLINICAL pharmacy program....they try to make u in someone like the tv show House...more about what you would see in a patient symptoms to diagnose and treat...not so much Brand vs generic and common dosing, hence #3.
6. Interview is all day, lol. couple of tests to test ur thinking ability, essays, group work, and interview towards end.
7. TT starts school earlier and ends later than most schools
8. We are freaking out about finding jobs in the future, too many schools in tx now and market is getting saturated super fast.
9. Make urself notice during interview day:
DO: wear a suit/ dress, everyone is going to...I was the only one in my group that didnt and i felt uncomfy, talk to ppl while ur there, dont think of them as enemy but as network b/c teachers will be looking at u the same way, making sure ur 'sociable' and not all book savy, ask questions about anything while ur there.
DONT!!!!!: Be late, know ur route to get to school and be there 30min early, don't slouch, I've done interviews for 2 yrs for incoming students and some ppl slouched in their chairs, tried to see what we were writing about them/scoring them during interview (bad bad idea), be prepared to answer "what if , what would u do, how did u" type questions, dont be "that guy/gal" who tried to out talk everyone, and don't step on toes / bash ppl
10. This is prolly long enough, feel free to PM me if ya'll have questions too
