just for clarification, your 1st two years can only be in Amarillo, unless you apply for the abilene campus, otherwise Lubbock and Dallas are only P3and P4 year sites

nevertheless, good luck to everyone, we'll see the next batch this friday

Hey - my mistake - sincerest apologies. I meant to say Abilene instead of Lubbock. And as best I know (from speaking to Ms. Goldstein and the information @ the interview), applying to TTUHSCSOP (man that's an acronym for you!) constitutes applying to both campuses and unless you are restricted to Abilene or Amarillo only, you may be accepted with an offer to one school or the other.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I will be one of those begging souls on Friday.

As for the new campus does anyone know how many students will be accepted there? Also I am curious how the students will be divided between the two. Personally I'll be happy to just receive an acceptance letter.

ya exactly 90 in amarillo and 40 in abilene for fall 2007

if anyone wants to hook up for lunch, give us a holler.

if anyone wants to hook up for lunch, give us a holler.

That's exactly why I found Tech to be my choice for school - the staff and students actually care.

and really, if anyone is going to be in town friday night and has nothing to do, let us know, not that we have anything better to do, but we can think of something I'm sure

ok I know I"m kinda post whoring, but anyway, if that is the case, about being able to go to either campus, I'll take your word for it because I really don't know.

I was mainly meaning that Lubbock and Dallas are P3 P4 only, but as you said you mistyped. No need to apologize, let us know when you find out:luck:

I am a dirty post *****

i have a feeling it will be like how OU does it. you can request OKC or Tulsa, and they give that considerable weight...but they'll give you the option to go to the other if you don't want to decline or be wait listed.

but i'm just speculating; they don't tell us anything.

To the best of my knowledge, this is correct. At the end of the interview, interviewees filled out a form with a priority ranking system for Amarillo vs. Abilene and then the P3/P4 years for Dallas, Lubbock, and Amarillo. It was indicated that (for the most part) that everyone gets their 1 or 2 choice and there are plenty of opportunities to try to change the logistics up - your destination is not "set in stone" upon admission.

Personally, I'll be elated just to get in, but I chose Amarillo for all 4 on my form and I sure hope I get it.

Thanks for your insight everyone.

there is a form to fill out due the december of your P2 year if you want to switch P3-4 locations (this is a policy change from a few years ago). It is based on GPA i think, but as long as you don't want to switch to lubbock, there should be ample room to accomodate you (lubbock has the smallest facilities from what i hear).

this is what i'm planning on doing, because i am a ***** and put lubbock (i'm from arlington)

How did everyones interviews go?🙄

I had my interview on Feb 9th. I haven't heard anything back from TTU yet. However, I am happy to say I already got accepted into my number one choice of school. So, i don't really care what TTU will send my way.

there are somethings that I went to get off my chest about TTU interview. I thought the interview itself was fun and interesting. and I liked the group problem solving section and the essay topic. However, I thought there was so much useless information packed into the whole day. For example, the computer information section, building tour was completely useless unless you get accepted into the college. I think this should be left out and handeled during orientation. this way, the interview won't last the whole day and would only take about 4-5 hours like many of the other schools.
finally, what is up with that weird test??? none of the other schools make you take this exam, except some nursing schools.

whew...! finally, I got my frustration off!. I hope nobody is offended by my remarks.

F U!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 just kidding

seriously, the day is too long, and you'll get lot of it again during bootcamp/orientation, so I pretty much agree with most of what you said, congrats on your acceptance to your #1

I do agree with you on the computer part. That was a complete waste of time to have someone sit there and read off line by line exactly what a computer should have. the 35 minute talk took me 30 seconds to read through the list.

As for the tour, I think it is important. If you were to go to a school that seemed to be really good but you get there and it is old and dumpy then maybe that would give you a second thought on which school to accept later on. Also with the test, it is just a hoop that is required to be jumped through so to me it is no big deal to take it. I am curious to how they'd react to a very high score.

All in all, I understand why many people would be frustrated with this discussion. Believe me when I say that it wasn't necessary for a prospective student like myself (built my first PC as a 9-year old in 1995 and have worked as a computer network tech for the last few years), but there are plenty of prospective students whom may not have a background in computers.

Plus, I specifically asked about Windows Vista and its compatibility with TTUHSC's network and was assured that XP was the only way to go.... A lot of new pre-fabricated computers are beginning to ship out with Vista now, so that was an important topic to bring up.

Finally, I really think that people would feel more comfortable contacting the tech staff with a question now that they've seen they are a nice group of gentlemen. *shrug* May sound far-fetched, however, I'm sure there were at least 1 or 2 people that had some things clarified by the presentation.

With the school's tour, I felt more assured that the school cares about its students seeing that they take the time to tell you about the school and take you on a tour of the facilities. I took a tour myself ahead of time, which I think is really the responsibility of the prospective student). Tech really tried to sell you on the school as much as the prospective student tries to sell their self to the school.

I thought that the interview, while long (but not too tiring), was very friendly, and assured Tech gets the creme of the crop.

Hello all,

I checked my application status on-line just now. It reads as follows:

Admissions Status
Interviewed

However, I logged into my e-raider account (it was mentioned in the interview information session, so I decided to take a look at it now). I was able to log in, and I saw a link to my "Unofficial Transcript," which shows information from the schools I attended in my undergrad. Also listed on there is the following information:

Current Academic Program:
School of Pharmacy
Doctor of Pharmacy
Major: Pharmacy

------------------------2007 Fall--------------------------

Admitted Program:
School of Pharmacy
Doctor of Pharmacy
Major: Pharmacy

-----------------------------------------------------------
INTP******* 2007 INTERVIEW - 02/02/2007
0.00
NON-GRADED
-----------------------------------------------------------

AHRS EHRS QHRS QPTS GPA
Current 0.00 0.00 0.00 0 0.000
Cumulative 0.00 0.00 0.00 0 0.000
----------------End of School of Pharmacy-------------------

(NOTE: Asterisks in place of a number... didn't know if this was some type of vital information)

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this... My account summary shows a zero balance due for any term. I assume that if I were indeed admitted that it would show some sort of place-holding fee that's due for this term or Fall 2007. If anyone else has logged into their e-raider account and has noticed similar information, or if anyone "in-the-know" has some insight into this, please let me know - just curious =). Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

The status, where it says interviewed, will changed to accepted or otherwise when a decision has been made. Also, they'll probably put something in the mail before they change the status online. Although my online status changed like 2-3 days before my letter arrived. It wouldn't be rude to e-mail Linda Goldstein and ask her what kind of a timetable you should expect for a decision

I figured that the application would be updated upon admission. However, I was curious if anyone understood why my unofficial transcript would say "Admitted Program: School of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy" if I were not already admitted. I know I'll find out soon enough, but this does leave me a bit anxious =).

i'm afraid that's just the oldy moldy system the entire university uses. but to be sure, i'd have to ask someone who didn't get accepted.

as for xp vs. vista: by the time you would start school here, I estimate vista will be more ready for integration if not totally gravy. its a little silly that they didn't upgrade their webCT or prepare for it, but at least we'll have free office 07 shortly.

Yes, it probably is the case. I know that the e-raider accounts were created for us, so the TTUHSC staff likely had to put something to affiliate us with the school - and thus listed us in the program.

Windows Vista is nice, but at my current job we won't be switching to it until 2008 at the earliest. There were a lot of "kinks" that needed to be worked out with 2000, XP, and now with Vista.

I haven't tested out Office 2007... I hope nothing too ridiculous was integrated into it because I was plenty content with Office 2003.

Thanks again for the replies.

I've got a question I wished I'd have had time to ask in my interview. So to all current Techsan pharmers:

What exactly is registration for courses like? All of the classes I saw in the building on the interview date and when I toured prior were approximately 50+ students which leads me to believe there are only 1 or 2 course sections (individual classes) available per course, per semester. Is this the case?

Also, for more advanced courses in the P3 and P4 years, I assume that the number of sections goes down per course (if there are multiple sections at all). Is that how it works?

Thanks!

P1 and P2 years everyone is in the same class.(80-90 people) When you register for classes you really only have one class choice. In labs there will be several time choices. During the P3 and P4 years the class splits up to several campuses so there are smaller classes. I am not exactly sure how the P3 and P4 classes work though.
...does anyone else have any input?

That makes sense. I thought that would be the case for the P1 and P2 courses. Thanks a lot.

I am not exactly sure how the P3 and P4 classes work though....does anyone else have any input?

Most of the P3 and P4 classes are pre-recorded and they are online. Because during your P3 and P4 year you are doing 2 six week rotations and a few required classes and electives. Your P3 year will be the most busy work and then it relaxes a little during the last year. Texas Tech loves to make online classes, I believe that is the only choice because the faculty is divided between 4 cities.

But yeah you will be with your classmates all day for the P1 & P2 years, except for labs. So don't make any enemies cause you'll sit next to them everyday. 🙂

I can just see the love already ! I'll be sure to take your advice on that 🙂 .

On a side note: I received an e-mail from Ms. Goldstein. As I understand it from her e-mail, the early admissions committee met on Wednesday this week (Feb 28th) and they intend on mailing letters of acceptance today, Friday (March 2nd), and that admissions status would probably not be updated on the web until after the letters arrive.

I had been under the impression that there was going to be a committee meeting for the first and 2nd interview groups (Feb 2nd & 9th) and that letters would be mailed out around the 23rd, explaining my curiosity about our application statuses 😀. I suppose I misunderstood Mr. Schwettmann (sp?).

Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks for sharing the info! I've been rushing home each day to check the mail 😀

No problem at all. I was feeling the same exact way. I suppose that if a nearly impossible chain of events happens, involving private-sector like efficiency at the bureaucratic level (USPS), Tech could mail out the letter early this morning and if properly sorted by the USPS, I could potentially receive it tomorrow here in DFW. But, I'm not holding my breath on that one!

Hello everyone,

I sent my TT application a couple of days ago, approximately how long after they receive and process it do they let you know if you are granted an interview?

Also, how many interviews will they be conducting?

Based on the list of interview dates they gave us, there are 6 more in Amarillo and 1 more in Abilene. I don't know when they will send out another batch of interview requests.

Wow, you've really put a lot of thought into this haven't you? LOL

I sent my application in Jan 8 and received interview date early Feb. If you don't hear anything in a couple of weeks, don't hesitate to call the school. They are really nice and great about answering questions. In fact, I found out about my interview date when I called the school to check on my status and they immediately gave me an option of interview dates. Although it might of been just my luck in timing because the lady I spoke with said she just finished reviewing my file....

Thanks! All I can do now is wait..🙂

That same thing happened to me. I called them to ask my status, and by that afternoon I had the choice for interviews.

I had the same thing happen to me. I got the letter for interview before they changed my status online. Also, I just got the letter indicating that I got in and they still have not changed my status online!!! alll very weird. anyways, now I need to make the tough decision. I was also accepted into another university in Texas. could one of you please give me some suggestions as to how you guys decided which college to go to? thanks 🙂

Wow, you've really put a lot of thought into this haven't you? LOL

Yes, a little too much probably! Now that I see R1234 has received theirs, I'm going to go crazy now! I'm at my parent's house for the weekend since me and my girlfriend got off of work... and now I'm wishing I was at home to check my mailbox!

R1234, do you live in the Amarillo area - Canyon or otherwise? Let me know, or I may have to drive back to Dallas from East Texas 😀.

yes, yes...where do you live? 🙂

I live in DFW.. I guess I should not expect anything until Monday or Tuesday... Erg! I wish they would update on the web simultaneously!

how do you present yourself on paper application well enough to be offered an interview?

I'm from the DFW area too and know how you feel Zeke1955. I'm so anxious now that people are starting to get their acceptance letters. No luck for me this Saturday. Perhaps Monday....

Does anyone know if Tech will let you know if you are accepted or not if you call them? This wait is driving me crazy! I've got an interview at UH coming up but Tech is my first choice so if I find out if I'm accepted, I'll just forego the UH interview.

Yes, I'm hoping for Monday as well... If it were me (which it sort of is), I would not pester Tech. I felt pretty nervous about e-mailing Tech last week about it - seemed kind of rude to me. I suppose they'll tell us when they're good and ready to do so...

Everybody take a deep breath!! I actually go to school at Tech in Lubbock that is probably why I got the letter so early. The mailing date on the letter is March 2nd. So, those of you in the DFW area should receive your letters by Monday or Tuesday. Good luck everybody!!🙂

True... Plus, I guess they don't want to take away from the moment of exhilaration when we get the actual letter. I don't know about ya'll but I've been envisioning this moment of getting the acceptance letter for years. I've been working hard towards this final moment. This is my first year applying so just making it to through the interview process has been an honor for me..... With that said, I'm still an anxious wreck!

I could not agree more! I guess I'll be counting the hours down until I get off of work today and get home to the mailbox... =)
