Does anyone know what the deal is with the optional essays? Do we need to write both or one? Which is the better to write?

There is an official TMDSAS questions thread floating around here, so you can find answers to many if not all of your questions if you look there.

If you have good answers for the optional essays and are willing to spend the time and effort to write them at the same caliber as your personal statement, then do so. Many people only wrote one of them- just depends on whether or not they apply to you.
