Hey everyone, I got accepted to both schools and I am having trouble deciding. Ive been to Tech multiple times and I really love their faculty and school. It is very welcoming. I live in Houston so TWU would be much much much closer. Anyone have any advice?

As a TWU undergrad alumni and having visited TTU facility, I would choose TWU because you will have more accessibility to very knowledgeable and personable faculty and staff, whereas at TTU, part of the teaching faculty will be in different locations. You can't go wrong with TWU. But if you want to get away from the noise (life) of Houston, which may make it hard to study, then TTU would be best. Prioritize your needs and wants, compare, then choose. Also, when you decline an offer that opens a spot up for someone who's waiting to get in!
Have you visited TWU-Houston, or Dallas? The faculty and facilities at TWU-Houston is top-notch. The faculty are highly respected in their different fields of PT, and there is a nice variety of professors who hold certifications in specialties: ortho, man therapy, neuro, vest, lymphadema, hand therapy, geriatrics, etc. But it's all up to you in what you want. TTU is also good (but not as good as TWU lol). I'm a little biased, I know. The professors at TWU are also very supportive, and will do whatever they can to help you succeed. No joke. They give us their personal cell and home phone numbers if we need anything. They have an open door policy, and the type of people TWU attracts is a pretty awesome group of people that will support you along your way to becoming a full-fledged PT. However, TWU does come with a lot of work compared to other programs here in TX. I have friends at UTMB, UTHSCSA, Hardin-Simmons, and UTSW and they stuff they compain about school-wise... let's just say they need to sit in for a week at TWU and see how lucky they are. I can't say for the other TX schools though (except Baylor-Army. That program is beast).

Okay, TTU has a great program and everything, but I would say definitely look at cost. If you will save money by staying in Houston, then it would be wise to stay there. If money is not an issue, go with your gut feeling!
My gut told me to go to UT Southwestern, but due to some family circumstances, I will be going to TTU. Both are great programs, but if there is nothing holding you back, then go wherever you feel more excited about. At least that's what I've heard you're supposed to do 🙂

The only thing holding me back from TT is the family and the distance. Never really been away from home. I was original very excited about moving out and being on my own, but I am not sure how long that excitement would last. Also, I will only be in lubbock for the summer then I will be in odessa. 🙁 In the long run, it would be cheaper for me to be at TWU. BOO!!! Decision, decisions.
I live with the padres, and I'm still strapped for cash... lol. I get by on my part-time job. It's a bit of a hassle still living with the parents, e.g. where are you going? where are you? what time are you going to be home? why aren't you home yet? etc...
argh! but then i'd probably be homeless and eating from garbage cans if I went somewhere else, even though I would've liked to go out of state for PT school

Yeah it's a tough one. But unless you would be saving a ton of money I would say get away from home for a while. That's what it sounds like you want to do! I wouldn't do it of it costs a lot more to leave home. I always thought TTU was a lot cheaper than TWU. You should add up tuition and cost of living and see which would be the best choice

Regardless of the school, you will be doing an insane amount of studying, so go where there will be the least amount of distraction.
Current TWU DPT student.
I already do insane amount of studying. 😎 I'm not to worried about that. Im just scared that I will go insane being away from my family.

Ramp up the insane amount of studying by 10, and figure that you won't have too much free time to do family things. I had a choice between UTMB and TWU in Dallas. My heart wanted to go to UTMB, loved the faculty and the campus it would have been cheaper to live there (we have a condo there), but my husband would have had to commute to Dallas 3 days a week for work. I picked TWU because of that reason, although many times I think I should have gone to UTMB. It's hard to go somewhere that is away from those you love. On the flip side when my husband and I got married, we moved 1,000 miles away from our closest family, and I think it made our marriage stronger, because we couldn't "run home to mommy & daddy". Good luck in your decision process...
