How come campbells and raven john dont have anything about fetal ciiculation - ductus arteriosus, foreman ovale, etc. ? Whats a good source for this? Thanks
No one cares about the babies ............. 😱😱
no one cares about your DAT score either.
Fetal circulation is easy:
ductus venosus: it bypasses the liver and blood goes straight to heart
foramen ovale: connects right atrium to left atrium, bypassing the lungs
ductus arteriosus: connects pulmonary artery to aorta, bypassing lungs
also dont forget that with the placenta, the circulation is kinda wierd like with the heart:
umbilical artery: carries deoxygenated blood from fetus to placenta
umbilical vein: carries oxygenated blood from placenta to fetus
Also:
After birth: resistance in pulmonary blood vessels decreases causing an increased blood flow to lungs. When the umbilical blood flow stops, blood pressure in the inferior vena cava decreases causing a decrease in pressure in right atrium.
In contrast, left arterial pressure increases due to increased blood flow to lungs.
Foramen ovale closes and ductus arteriosis constricts. Adult hemoglobin is produced.
Also good to know, erythroblastosis fetalis
Rh incompatability: occurs only when mother is Rh neg and her baby is Rh pos, and it affects the second born infant..so she has to have 1 Rh pos baby, then another one later on for this to occur
I had a question on it, and they asked what the Rh + or - was for mother and child so basically know mother Rh - , baby Rh+
I think I covered the important stuff, others can expand if I left anything out.
