hey guys,
really need some help with immuno

if infected with lets say a virus like hep b, are both, th1 or th2 activated at the same time?

need (th1) cytotoxic t cells to destroy virus infected cells and need (th2) for antibodies against hep b

first aid says when th1 is activated it will inhibit th2..vice versa

so how can th1 and th2 be active at the same time if one inhibits other???

thanks guys

Although being a virus HBV should predominantly have CMI against HBV, it down regulates MHC 1 but at the same time HBsAg is highly immunogenic so antibodies are highly effective in controlling the spread of infection.
However, already infected cells can only be dealt with CMI, ADCC & Innate immunity (e.g. NK cells).

Is it safe to assume that vaccinations elicit only (or at least mainly) th2-responses?
Yes, since there is no virus in the vaccine to be intracellular. The only part of HBV in the vaccine is HBsAg which is highly immunogenic ---> Th2 response.
