I just recently interviewed at a school where I had both a faculty and student interview. I discussed similar topics in both sessions, My question is: Is it okay to send very similar thank you notes to both the faculty and student? I am wondering if both of these notes will be kept in my file as they review my application. Also, is there a certain amount of time you want to get these thank you letters in by? Any input is appreciated, thank you!!

1) Yes.
2) Only if the addressee refers it back to your file due to included information potentially of value. to decision-making.
3) For name recognition, soon is best. By two weeks is OK if you refer to some element of the interview that would make you memorable.

TY notes don't go into your file; they go to the people you sent them to.

BTW, I throw them away.

You should only be sending them if your mom taught you to be polite. If one is working under the delusion that they will aid in your acceptance, your fate will already have been decided by the time they arrive.
