Only if they are gold-electroplated. But this could just be rumor ...

Hope that Helps

i doubt they do at most schools. i think it's more for common courtesy than to increase your chances of getting in. however, i think i either read on here or heard at my interview that gtown puts your thank you note in your file. dunno for sure. it doesn't really make sense that they would cause then how is the person you wrote it to gonna see it?!

there are several threads on this. if you do a search you will probably find your answer!

the only schools that I've gotten into are the ones that I haven't sent any thank-you letters to. weird huh

I've done fairly well in the admissions game (including my top choice MD/PhD program), and didn't send ANY thank you's. Smacks of ass kissing to me.

But then, maybe I'm just an uncouth barbarian. 😀

At one school the thank you note got there a couple days after I got the acceptance. At the other, I didn't bother sending a note. Still got in though.

Only if your interviewer puts them there. I received thank you cards this year only from people who didn't stand out all that much in interviews. They're around here in my apartment somewhere...

so i had this interview where me and the man who was interviewing me were arguing during the whole thing....(which some people are telling me might have been a trick to see if i speak up for my beliefs) well anyway we fought over 3 issues and i sent a nice thank you card back with a note that basically said that I still think i'm right 😀

well, so far i didn't get a rejection but when i find out what happens ill let you guys know

regardless of its influence on the admissions committee, i think thank you cards should be written. call me old fashioned. personally, i feel grateful for the opportunity to interview at a school and the time these people take to talk to me. it's not like they're sitting around eating bon-bons all day. i guess if you don't really feel appreciative, then you don't need to write a thank you note.

In a former career, I was a recruiter for IS/IT positions. This was back in the day when there were IS/IT positions available. The people that sent thank you notes were definitely noticed by me, and it reflected very positively on them.

Did everyone who sent a thank you note get the job? No
Did those who didn't send one get denied the job? Not necessarily.

But I think that it was overall a positive thing for applicants to do, and it helped some people get jobs they wouldn't have gotten.
