What do you write in a thank you letter, is it necessary?
Most definitely! The thank you "note" should be short and to the point. The most important people receiving one: interviewer(s), and those that sent recommendations. A simple note (to an interviewer) such as: I wanted to thank you for playing an integral role in my wonderful visit to...
Just make sure it is short and without spelling errors etc...
It helps them remember you more, I don't see how it could hurt. It's also in good manner to do so.
