So after I interviewed at a program I really loved I sent in my thank you letter to my interviewer as soon as I got home. Unfortunately I just realized that I had referred to the program as "school" of medicine instead of "college" of medicine...twice!! I can't tell how big of an error this is because I did get the name of the program wrong, but it was also only a small word switch. Any thoughts of what I should do from here D:

Some adcoms throw those letters away unread. I usually look at the salutation and the name of the writer. Good chance the recipient never noticed the name switch. Furthermore, the interviewer often finishes writing a synopsis of the interview within two hours of the interview. Once that is submitted, there is no way to make additional comments.

There's nothing to do now. Relax and hope for the best.

I read all my letters. If I noticed this small mistake, I wouldn't care. I certainly wouldn't ever bring it to Administration's attention.

thanks so much guys, I feel a lot better than I did this morning!

To be honest, I can't read a lot of the thank you notes because the writers had really bad handwriting. So I barely read them.

I had my girlfriend write mine for me. 🙂 But then again, bad handwriting is one of the things that are necessary for becoming a good physician. 😉

It could be worse. You could have put the name of a different school altogether. As everyone else said, it probably won't be a big deal and may even go unnoticed.
Seen it happen before.

@LizzyM , my interviewer is also on the admissions committee. Would it be fruitful to send him a thank you note?

Once in awhile an adcom member who interviewed an applicant will remark that the applicant sent a nice thank you letter. It doesn't improve the applicant's standings from what I can tell and the interviewers who make these remarks never remark that someone they interviewed did NOT send a thank you note.

All in all: unlikely to be fruitful
