I had the wonderful privilege of interviewing at one of my top choice programs a little less than a month ago, and I absolutely loved the experience. The interviewers were kind and the process felt great. However, I just checked now because I couldn't remember if I had sent my thank you note for this school, and it turns out I never hit send. I've heard that interviewers write down feedback immediately and thus the thank you note doesn't affect that side of things, but is it something that is taken into account in the general admissions decision? I'm not a jerk I promise, I just completely forgot to send the thank you note. I feel like it may be awkward to send now but I'm willing to especially if it has an impact on the admissions decision.

the general consensus is that for nearly all schools thank you letters don't mean much, if anything at all. I'm sure it won't hurt to send tho

What's done is done. You can send it but it probably won't meaningfully tip the scales - either the fact that you did it late or if you submit one period

My take on TY notes is to send them if your momma taught you to be polite.

Otherwise, the med schools aren't going to care.

Thanks for all insight/advice! My momma would be upset with me for sure… I’ll send one late.

I'm a bit prideful in that I don't want to look like I'm sucking up or look like I'm leveraging connections to get into anything. But you changed my mind so I'll send one after I hear back.
